Idle/Throttle body

Hello all I have a serious idle issue with my 88 gxl. I noticed that the idle is around 1500 to 2000 rpm, a ridiculous number since 750 is what it should be at. I have messed with it to no avail and have found that I can get the idle to drop as long as im pushing upward on the linkage for the tps set screw. I also noticed that the nut that is holding the linkage assembly in the front (where the TPS is) is stripped because it just keeps spinning and wont tighten. I don't know what to do, im thinking of just going to the junkyard and buying a throttle body assembly and slapping it on. Any suggestions or comments would be very much appreciated.- Thanks in advance-- Ren
