Any solution to sunroof rust?

I've done some search in the forum but have not really come across anything. Other then the Pacific Glass sunroof I'm wondering if others have come up with a solution to fixing the damn rusting sunroof problem.

Man, wish someone would make a CF/fiberglass sunroof.

My wish is for a 1/4" thick smoke lexan panel with about a 1" dome shape.
It could be mounted on the stock bracket with stainless carriage bolts.
It's a long shot, but the RX-8 moonroof panel might fit.

Any acrylic fabricators out there?

Once rust starts, it's hard to control it.
You need to treat it as soon as it starts. If you wait, it's too late. The most common is at the edge lip where the 2 sheetmetal joins. I've used the 3M rust treatment which worked for me but there are a lot of treatments out there. Don't get something from Wal-Mart. Go to an auto paint shop and get it there. Painting it after treatment is another matter. I've learned from a few mistakes.

From what I read in a thread on here somewhere, FC3S.org will be coming out with both a CF and FG sunroof soon. Might be worth inquiring about.

Yeah when I was at their shop a week ago or so, they were talking about a CF sunroof. I just ordered a CF hood from them

You're lucky you live so close to them. If I lived down in SD, FC3S.org would probably end up a daily hangout for me! I have a FG hood on the way that will be shipping this week.

Interesting subject...I notice when I am driving at some good speeds I will get a flake of rust come down on me from my sunroof, when its open...I would like a see- through version, as its cool to see the moonlite or the open lookingness even when its closed...(Is that a word?) ha ha...

I'm very aware of rust formation on our Sunroof's. I was very fortunate enough to come across a mint one when I did my Black TII Interior swap.

To counteract a good roof from rusting out, I sprayed the Inside of the roof with Lithium spray (I got this for free at my dealership so I said what the heck?), put It back In with the trim, than dribbled oil Into the seal where It meets the actual roof. Finally, I wiped appropiately to conceal the grease saturated and probably rust free forever sunroof.
