Question Idle surging problems...

Hey guys,

I don't post a whole lot on here, I usually read mostly. But I figured I would throw this out there to see if anyone could tell me what my problem is.

I have an 87 that is N/A with a 5 speed. All of the emissions have been removed including the BAC. Sometimes when reving the car in neutral, the idle surges. You can hold the gas in one spot and it will surge up and down about 500 rpms. It's not a big deal, but I would like to fix it. It doesn't do it all of the time, like sometimes it will go away while it is surging.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Vincent.

Can I clean it or does it just need to be replaced?

Is there a way that I can tell for sure that this is the problem?

Disconnect the tps plug and see if it still does it.

Believe it or not, my car was doing this when everything had checked out and it was just an adjustment of the throttle cable that fixed it. That took care of a surging like yours. I don't get it but that's what it was.

I have the same issue sorta. not sure if the lack of mufflers and possibly a bad cat have anything to do with it but it idles extremely low and fluctuates between roughly 200-500 rpms and when it drops it sounds like the engine is about to die.
