Idle and Running Problems, NEed help ASAP please

1.3b S5 N/A

Got a high rev the other day. ECU prolly in Limp mode. Car idles like normal, but anything about 1.5k rpm and it studders and shakes. Lots of gas smell. I blew a coolant line the other day and got coolant all over the selnoids for the injectors and sparkplugs. Need help getting car running again. If anyone has a good idea what could be wrong i'm open to idea's. Car feels like its either choking on to much fuel and no air or other way around. Bucks and won't make power.

Hmm, maybe one, (or more) of your injectors are stuck open. Did the problem start right after coolant got all over everything?

Ya, I'd guess a sensor, coil, etc got fried. Get a multimiter and check all the electrical components to see if they still have the correct resistance. The FSM, should have all the data.

Try reseting the computer, take the battery cables off for a while and put them back on. Maybe the ECU just needs reset.

I'm definately not an electrical guru though.

ok addition, upon startup. Heavy fuel smell from engine and diffinant missfire. Sparkplugs are new and so are the wires. Is this ECU, Fuse, or something else related. There is a connection just by the spark plugs over one of the main coolant lines that got covered in coolant, could this be somethign that controls the sparkplugs?

Ok, got a ECU code #33 which is the Port Air Selnoid Valve. I've checked them and woudn't think these would send the car into either limp mode or screw up the timing. Can anyone atleast give me a direction to go in, i'm out of idea's on this one.

Red face

I have a similar problem with my vert but the engine is popped. I don't think it would be your secondary injectors being that those come on later than when your problem occurs. I reccomend a coolant leakdown test to insure you have solved your first problem, second check your tps (throttle position sensor). It could need to be replaced. Thirdly compression test. A clogged fuel filter or pump may also be to blame but that is the best I can do. I did all this to my vert and realized the motor was the problem. Not good!

change the valve or just change the entire air control valve ....make sure it has new port and **** I forgot the other I think air Selnoid valve one is in the front and the other is in the lower rear with 2 wires coming from each on the air control valve.
