Idle problems

Well Im having the oddest idle issues....

I start the car, it goes to 850.

It warms up a little, goes to 1250.

It warms up even more 1500.

Now It holds there until I drive it for a while and then starts to pulse from 1450-1600. It only randomly does this, and it happens for minutes at a time.
Sometimes it does not happen and holds at 1500.

I checked the BAC, TPS, Idle Mixture.

Im thinking my timing is off, but I have never adjusted it on a rotary before.
Il reading the FSM for adjusting it now, unless someone has a good tutorial link.
Thanks.

Lets say I had to remove the coolant passages due to major corrosion....... Would that affect it....??

So the thermowax and cam are still there, but you have no coolant flow over it anymore? Yeh, that might do it...

Hmmm, you might as well remove the fast idle components, then, and see if that helps. Just try to warm up the engine with your foot (on the peddle), I guess...

Looks like Ill have to.

The connections on the TB just corroded away to the point I would have to drill and tap new nipples on it.

Please note I've never taken that stuff off of my car to see what happens, so I hope it works out for ya...I guess worst case scenario would be an idle that you're trying to keep alive, versus one that climbs to 1500.
