Idle Problem/Question

I have an 87 Turbo II. Just dropped in a jspec engine and tranny and started it up.

Starts up quick (has a lot of smoke from the downpipe but the car was flooded). Only problem as of right now is the car quickly jumps up to 4,000 RPM and just sits there. I haven't let it run for a long period of time while it is at that rpm so unsure if I should let it idle there or if there is some adjustments needed on the TPS or another sensor.

The smoke is pretty heavy and looks to be white but could have a bluish tint as well. The engine was overfilled with oil to the point though that oil was coming up the dipstick tupe. So could that lead to a lot of burn off? along with the huge amount of flooding that was done before?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Ok, got the high idle problem fixed. The cruise control cable was just to tight.

The smoke also stopped after it ran for a bit and got up to operating temp.

Now the only problem is that it won't idle now. You have to keep hitting the gas or it will just slowly go down in RPM's and die. I have done some adjusting on the TPS and still nothing.

Any advice is appreciated

Thanks,
Mike

lol, yeah it was annoying.

Now I can't get the thing to idle correctly. So I go from wanting to run like a batt out of hell at 4000rpm to starting up and not wanting to set at the proper idle.

Now that is frustrating
