What type of car do you have...NA or TII? Also, are you driving an auto or 5 speed? Lastly, are you driving an 89+ or previous model?

By far the simplest method of setting the TPS for me (being an EE) is using a volt
meter to dial in 0.95 volts at the connector. There is no guess work involved, just
turn the adjust screw until the meter reads 0.95 volts.

Warm up car
Remove intercooler
Turn key to ON position
Leaving all connectors plugged in, find the three prong connector that comes
directly from the TPS
Insert you probes into the back of the connector and find the two prongs that
are close to 1 volt (the others should be around 4 volts).

Turn the adjusting screw until the voltage is 0.95 volts.

If the throttle response is not smooth enough, try increasing the voltage slowly to
about 1.00 volts.

The above words were stolen from http://www.ggimages.com/ go there, then click on OTHER PAGES, then click on RX7 ARCHIVES, then click on Setting the TPS.

I've been doing it like this for several years. It beats ALL the other methods hands down for accuracy and timelyness (sp).

The car should be HOT when setting the tps by any method.
