Idle

OK its another idle question. I did the TB mod, and my idle is messed up. I messed with the throttle stop screw, now I can't get it to go back to normal. I have tried to adjust the TPS, throttle stop screw, bac. Now it surges from 1k RPMs to 1500. What is the main thing that would cause this?

someone has to have run into the same problem as me after the TB mod. What did you have to adjust to get it to idle like normal.

Also I didn't jumper the initial set coupler when I was messing with stuff. Could that effect it.

anyone....Could I have mixed up a vac. line or something? What vac. lines do you get rid of when you do the TB mod?

Possibly. On a 87 turbo, at the back of the throttle body there are four vac lines. The key here is that only one nipple on the throttle body actually is pulling a vacuum. That is the lower one. That lower metal nipple should be on a normal car, going to the thermo wax device. If you put a line other than the one from the thermowax on it, its quite possible that that is causing a strange idle. The top three metal nipples on the body are all siamised internally in the throttle body and are drawing fresh filtered air from the front of the throttle plates. YOU coulda also mixed up the front three, but they really just fall into place, so thats not likely. Is you intercooler hose on good and snug?

A correction here. Where I used the words *thermo wax device*, I should have said *WATER THERMO VALVE*.

So even after the TB mod there should be a line that is connected to the lowest line on the back of the TB? I thought that I got rid of that device so I capped it off. Also I just saw that I am missing the the rubber seal that goes between the primary injectors and the housing. Could that be causing it not to seal correctly and the idle to bounce?
