idle at 2k

idle at 2k

Well i was driving the other night, and all of the sudden my rpm's started idleing at 2000 rpm's....i checked the idle screw and its all the way to one side...cant turn it down anymore...any suggestions?

Were you running low on fuel when it happened? Or perhaps there could be a little air leak somewhere.

Throttle cable hung up a bit???? Should have some slack in it. If you put your finger on the cable behing the throttle body you should be able to move the cable up and down or sideways at least a 1/8 inch without the throttle linkage moving. Or a vac hose fell off.

Ok i will try that...where can the throttle line get hung up?

hey hailers, my idle prob (5000) was a cracked vacuum hose and also the lower intake to block gasket needed replacing.

Ok i was out there checking for vacuum lines and the throttle linkage...but the car was running at 1500 rpms while warming up then when it was warm it kicked up to 2000 rpms...wtf ggrr this car is making me mad!

Are your sensors working well...air flow sensor and exhaust sensor...perhaps get them clean but be careful not to damage them.
