idiot lights...
****** weird
i'm on the highway drivin home from a friends house, my idiot lights go on, my voltmeter drops to twelve volts
turns out my ******* alternator pulley belt is no longer there
think this happened just due to old age?
either way i got kind of worried, i was like 15 miles from home, and it was like 12:30 am, shitty weather and stuff
meh

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
When was the belt last replaced???
I recommend every 30K miles, and it is manditory every 60K miles by Mazda.
And the title of your thread has been updated to actually have the problem in it.

Mmm... I lost my alternator belt when I was 50 miles from home. I had sprayed some belt dressing on to help it from squeeling... next thing I know I drive two blocks and the idiot cluster lights up. FACK.
I drove the 50 miles home on just the battery running the ignition (no charging), and the 4 miles to the car parts store the next day. Bought a new battery and belt the next day though.
Haven't had a problem since, though I have invested in an Optima Red top. Very nice! Can run that thing dry and trickle charge her to 100% again
