Idiot Light s5

Earlier this morning, my buzzer went off on the freeway, but nothing else on my idiot light was on besides the seat belt. However, when my key is in to on, all lights come up (engine light, add coolant, belt, etc.). After the car starts, all lights but belt go away. So during my lunch, I took a look and added more coolant. Drove it for 5 minutes and no more buzzer. I assume that was the issue.

How do I get the idiot light to light up other warnings? When I put the passenger seat belt in, the belt light goes away. I don't want to drive without knowing that my engine light should be on or not, and other lights.

either you have something on your passenger seat,or a defective seat belt warning system in the Clasp of the belt itself.
Everything else is FINE.
If ALL lights go off then Start worrying.(broke alt belt or ad alternator)

Only the drivers seatbelt has a connection to the warning light, the passenger belt has nothing, nor does it sense that the seat is occupied.
The driver seat has no such ability either, the car just assumes that if the key is ON there must be someone there, so it'll flash for the seatbelt till it's buckled.

I'm not worried about the seat belt light being on or not on. I'm worried about lights that should be on. Right now my buzzer beeping like crazy and I was lucky enough to get my car home before things got way worse today. Suddenly my radiator hose has a hoe. I replaced it with a new one from Napa Autoparts and my buzzer still goes off. My car is also over heating right now. Shouldn't the engine light be on when it's over heating?

Any ideas why no lights are coming on and why my car is over heating?

No lights on while driving is a good thing. Buzzing may be sensor related and no, no light comes on when your car overheats. That is what the temperature gauge is for. Your series 5 GXL has a horrible temperature gauge that goes from "operating temps" to "blown motor" with no warning and you should not be driving the car AT ALL if it is overheating until you find out why. Overheating a rotary kills a rotary.

Now that I've scared you, find out what's up with the car. There was a hole in the radiator hose? You replaced that which is good, but there are other parts of the cooling system to worry about now, of course. How is the water pump? Is the radiator clogged? What does your coolant look like? Any other leaking hoses or connections?

Use the search function to reach answers for well covered issues.

i'm searching as of now. on monday, i took my car into a shop to do an oil change. i went from 5w30 to 20w50. could that be the reason why? i'll check the water pump tomorrow. i don't think the radiator is clogged. the coolant in the reservoir tank was tanish-brownish, but that could've been there way before?

No, changing oils isn't going to cause your car to overheat.

If you see coolant weeping from a tiny hole (called the weep hole) just underneath the water pump pulley then your water pump needs to be replaced.

Remove the fan and shroud. After getting your car up to operating temps, shut the car off and place your hand near the radiator (warning, its hot) move your hand around over the heat sinks and bars. It should be all one pretty constant temperature, if you feel cool spots then your radiator is clogged.

Check any other areas that coolant hoses may be located. Off the rear iron, under and behind the intake manifold near the fire wall (on the block of course) is a pretty notorious little hose that likes to get brittle and crack. There are also a few running to the throttle body, back to the water pump.

Flush your coolant if you haven't done so since you bought the vehicle.

Thanks for that clarification Clokker.
I knew there were wires to the buckle itself on the driver's.
Just assumed the same on the passenger..been awhile, gotta get the car tuned and active.

rad hose Blew? That is a sign that you could have lots of air in the system. anything Burning out the exhaust? What coolent are yo using? The thermostat working? Heat coming off the fan? How old is the engine? Dont over heat it too much. Or the engine will be toast. its rotary not a piston engine

NO. Stop making threads over the same thing. This particular issue is one that has been covered hundreds of times on this forum. Using the search function and simply searching the keywords "buzzer" and "overheating" yields hundreds of threads. One of which is particularly useful: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...thread-928512/

That contains many links to information that you need. STOP MAKING NEW THREADS.
