Question Idiot Light Cluster

im doing some custom body work to my fc and i shaved the third brake light and hatch key hole. now my idiot light comes on telling me that there is a break light out (the third brake light) iv tried to simply wire the two wires together but this blew a fuse so im wondering what would be a good way to complete the circuit so i dont get this light and i dont want to use the bulb. and i havent had any problems yet with the factory security systme yet but im wondering if the sensor in the key hole being removed will affect this system....any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

I'm, not 100% sure, but you should be able to wire in a resistor of similar resistance to the light (no idea what it is) where there bulb once was to trick it into thinking there is still a light there.
There might be another way, but thats what came to mind.

I am not at home or I would do this, but its pretty easy. someone get a multi meter and get a multimeter acheck the resistance for a brake light.

Put a 5watt 10 ohm sand stone or aluminum body resistor across the two wires at the thrid brake light. Make sure you mount the resistor away from plastic, and preferable to something metal to act as a heat sink as the resistor will get hot when the brake lights are on.

That will keep the brake light warning light off.

ah, no biggy. Its the same thing that I do for my LED 3rd brake light set up. 5watt at 5 ohms is just enough to trick the CPU into thinking that the bulb is still there, instead of no bulb or the 15 LEDs in my LED third brake light setups.
