Identifying N/A and TII Blocks
I recently found a TII that the owner says has a rebuilt engine in it. He said the block for the rebuilt engine was pulled from a junk yard. Now I'm wondering if they pulled the block from an N/A, rebuilt that, and just bolted all the stuff from the TII on. Would that be possible? Is there a way to tell if a block came from a TII or an N/A or are the blocks of these 2 engines significantly different?

Look in the exhaust ports. If there are diffusers, then they are NA rotor housings.
NA block won't have the fitting on the top of the front plate for the oil feed to the turbo.
Turbo block has coolant passages in the rotor housings that meet up with the lower intake. More obviously, the NA block will be 6 port, with 2 round intake runners on each end plate.
There are many differences between the two, but those are the more obvious.
