I want your thoughts on a $289 racing muffler

well corksport is selling a single drivers side tail pipe for 289$ and its all i can afford , im gettin a mairh cold air box , and i figured an exhaust will help the box make more hp , well does anyone know if the stock exhaust is better than the corksport one?

heeeeeelllllll no the stock exhaust isn't 'better' than the corksport one! The corksport exhaust is apparently quite nice. The only 'problems' people have with it are that it is quite loud.

And yes, the exhaust should give you another few HP. Do a search -- somebody just posted a bunch of nice pics of his new corksport CB

Have fun

I ran a $250 one. Price does not matter!! Every account of the COrksport single that I have read leads me to beleive that the Corksport is a fine piece! Now that MAriah cold air box is a joke. That think is WAY overpriced!! Make one for yourself out of aluminum. MUCH cheaper and just as effective. Also check out http://www.fc3s.org/how_tos/engine/cold_air_box.html for a cheap cold air box idea!

I dont think just putting on a muffler is going to do much Or is it a cat back, or a turbo back (or header for you NA doods)? Too lazy to go look.

Its a catback system. If you want the best performance for the money add the corksport catback onto a straight racepipe(or whatever you feel like calling it). You can buy the bonez one from rx7.com or have a local shop make you one.

Straight pipes are, well, straight basically. No need to pay like 130$ for a bonez one when you can probably get one made @ any local exhaust shop for a considerably cheaper price.

Ya ditching your cats will give you more HP than the catback and intake combined more than likely.

you could always buy my used rb turbo mufflers....
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=142244

i do believe they would work with your stock y-pipe,but you would have to call racing beat to make sure and ask if the "older" turbo mufflers will bolt up to a stock n/a y-pipe..

I just bought the Corksport exhaust.
I haven't noticed a increase in power or anything.
It is Very Loud though.

I installed it about 4 days ago.
It didn't exactly match up to my cat either. It was more of a 2 3/4 inch end instead of the 2 1/2 inch pipe.

It definitely looks good though.

I'd take some pics but its already dark out.

If you don't have to worry about cops pulling you over for loudness I would recommend it.
I am waiting for a cop to pull me over.
It is pretty loud on half ++ throttle.

Oh yeah I have a presilencer /downpipe thing and a high flow cat so that make a bit difference in loudness.

So you put just the catback on or a downpipe and highflow cat AND the catback on and didn't notice anything? With a catback you might not notice the difference especially if its an NA(maybe 5HP). With a downpipe and highflow cat and a catback you should see pretty good gains from stock.

actually it had the downpipe and highflow when i bought it.
It only ran a 17.1 too.Although I believe i can hit 17. by reducing the 60ft.
I need to go to the track again and really see if it did anything.

Yo thx for telling me about the silencer , i was gona gut my cats , then i noticed it didnt have a silerncer , now ill go ahead and gut em and buy the silencer , the only reason im buying the pipe is for looks and sound , the cold air box will make the pipe alow for more power is what the local Rotary racing shop said

probably next week my set up will be a 3 inch downpipe, to a brandnew highflow cat, and the corksport. i have a feeling people in asia will hear me start my car. so ill be getting the silencer from cp eventually.
im expecting my car to run alot better since my current cat is shot. im getting a digital camcorder from my gf, i think, for xmas.so expect some vids of this thing in action soon. =)

Digi7ech, 17.1? that you an n/a you have?

Mephis, be careful gutting that cat, the car can turnout sounding like **** after. jc whitney has highflow cats for good prices. they have a 3 inch in and out one for like 135. not TOP of the line, but it cant be that bad. check their site out.

What are your 60ft exactly? You must be running extremely shitty tires to be running 17.1... Or your car is letting go.
