I want 300whp

I have an '86 sport that is about to get a Tii swap done to here. I want to make
300whp. Without porting... what are some of the suggestions, and it needs to keep its emissions stuff on it for 1 more test coming next year. Fire away with setup sugesstions that can be done with emissions, but are upgradeable after the emission crap is taken off. Thanks for any help I can get.

( I do want to port, but am going to wait until the motor needs a rebuild, Just don't want to take it apart at this point)

you will absolutely be fine on stock ports, theres a few examples of 650rwhp+ with them.

i would recomend just running a gt35r.

No idea what you would do with emmisions testing, in florida they dont test you, so i just ripped all that **** off!

Same here, ripped all that **** off. I would think you could go with a BNR and just keep the emissions in place, maybe put a higher flowing cat in along with a turboback. Or you could just do like I did when I had to pass emissions and find a place that will pass you for a little money on the side.

I live in lynnwood. I have a really nice 3" cat that i used for emmisions. Unfortunatly something i didn't know about my BNR stage 2 is that the Air pump won't fit. Soooooooo What a "ahem, friend" did. Was go to the UPS store in bellingham. Paid $75 to get a mailbox. The "ahem, he" got the new address on his drivers license. Which, was overkill. My "ahem, friend" (must have a cold) then went his local licensing place and said I need to change my address because I just moved, and I need to renew my tabs. Presto chango problem solved.

Now i'm not advocating doing anything like that, i'm just saying what "ahemmmmmmmm, my friend " did.

Worked.

Pierce, King, snohomish and what ever the hell Vancover and spokane are in, are the only counties that do emmisions in our state.

Although the bonez cat in my 3" RB turbo back also works quite well. Used it in both my 91 t2 and my 87 t2
good luck.

remove emissions, get haltech, go to emissions place, lean it out like ************, pass emissions, re-enter good map, rinse and repeat as necessary.

so as far as making 300whp, would it be better to just build an NA motor and do a custome turbo setup or do the tii swap and upgrade the turbo....I can't seem to find any kits for NA motors though, easier to upgrade the swap????

Theres no kits for the NA because the differences b/w the TII and NA engines are minor. Most of the TII stuff will bolt on with little fabrication. Most turbo kits include the turbo manifold, piping, intercooler, etc. all stuff that can be used from the stock TII setup.

If you're rebuilding the engine you need to decide how important boost response is to you. The higher compression rotors (NA engine) will have better boost response at the cost of less room for error in tuning.

you do not need a gt35r turbo to make 300rwhp.

Get a modified OEM S5 turbo from am aftermarket tuner.14-16psi
If you do not want to boost spike you will have to dump the WG exhaust to atmosphere.
Larger Secondaries 1600cc
Fuel computer such as a Apex SAF-C
Boost timing retarder

i agree with you up to that safc stuff, if you want to do it right, buy a stand alone. with the prices people are selling e6k and harness for nowadays, theres no excuse.

I know what you mean here, but just because it could be confusing to newbies, there is major difference between the TII and NA engine:

-rotors
-housings
-irons
-front cover
-lower intake
-upper intake
-obviously the turbo system as well
