FD questions. oil, fuel, boost etc

Posted this on other thred but nobody seems to notice it so i'm starting a new one:
I sold my JDM prelude a while ago so i'm ready for Importing RX7 from Japan. I have few questions about it:

1. which oil will be best for FD with very low miles like 30K and where can i buy it online? also i want to order fuel filters, oil filters, also general stuff like A/F meter, boost meter. do you know any respectible rotary oriented online source?

2. What engine management do you recomend? I'm not looking for monstrous HP numbers, 300whp will be enough for me so i'm thinking of simple thing like S-AFC. what do you think about that? There are no tuners in my Country so is it possible to tune fuel myself? Also my friend is selling Power FC from his Skyline GTS but as far as i know that thing is kinda hard to tune, what can you guys say about that?

3. I've read a lot on this page: http://www.rx7.org/Robinette/mod_pro_con.htm
i want to do all the reliability mods just to be safe. According to that source these mods alone can get me over 300whp. How much boost stock engine and turbos need for 300whp and how much can they take safely? the car will not be my daily driver, just a fun car for weekends and small autoX-track events but i still want to keep it as reliable as possible.

I'm looking for FD in japan with 25-30K miles and bone stock. I've seen some previously even exhausts were stock, so i think i can find one. thanks a lot and wish me luck

1. I was told by a rotary specialist to use HPR 15 syn. Not sure if we have the same oils lol. And the best of everything.

2. PFC

3. Depends on mods, but I would say no more than 12psi? I was told by another rotary specialist that if I were to have a aftermarket ECU, I could run 14psi... thats with a pretty much stock FD but not sure how acurate that statement is...

Good luck!

PFC, good maps, should be able to see 300hp on 12 psi. Robinette site is good and was very helpful to me starting out. 300 hp is easily attainable and is good in keeping the car reliable.

You might be the only member here from Georgia. So it would probably help for you to figure which countries are easiest for you to buy/import parts, and then go to the regional forum here for that area. Most of the links/vendors on this site are US/Canada based. If that's no problem for you, then the vendors you see here are excellent sources.

I see you mentioned a/f meter. Remember that you need a wideband a/f. Standard a/f's are useless for this car.

S-AFC's are not good with FDs. The PFC is your best bet.

Do the reliability mods. Install a boost gauge before you mod anything, and note the boost level. Earlier models are 10psi, later models I think bump up to 11.5psi. Then install a boost controller and get your boost set to the same level. For best reliability I suggest keeping the stock cat. Now as you add the flow mods (cat-back, downpipe, SMIC, intake) adjust the boost controller to keep boost at the same level. You will get performance improvement from the improved flow, even with the same boost.

If you install a PFC and provide tuning for more boost, say 12psi, then it's a simple boost controller adjustment. You can go as high as 13.5psi on this setup. I recommend using a separate boost controller instead of the boost adjustment on the PFC. The PFC boost controller uses (and is limited by) the stock control solenoids.

I think that's the best approach.

does anyone know how reliable the re amemiya boost gauge is that fits over top of the steering column?

Thanks guys, I can Import any Parts or aftermarket from USA unless they are too big in size, thats no problem. What about Idemitsu engine oil and their fuel lube? Seen them on mazdatrix.com, they should be the best as they are designed specialy for rotary

You might be the only member here from Georgia.
I think i'm the only one. there is only one RX7 (my friends) in the whole country, mine will be second i guess. I dont know maybe he is a member of this board as well.

Idemitsu, IIRC, is the only synthetic Mazdatrix stands behind. I just put in dino oil because it's cheaper and much more readily available.

Also, I just wanted to make sure you understood that you cannot use your friend's PFC. The Power FC is specially designed for each application's ECU. Also, keep in mind that in 96, Mazda changed the ECU. You can't use a PFC designed for a 93-95 FD in a later model, or vice versa.

You can get the PFC fairly cheap on eBay, but you need to be prepared to wait most of the time. AFAIK, JPS, who is a major eBay player, has them, but you'll wait a couple months for your item to show up.

It's good oil, no doubt, but many people have different ideas about what oil is *best* for this car. IMHO, nobody's wrong.

from your posts i see that there are no one or two leading oil manufacturers for rotaries. there are several evenly matched high quality oils none of which stands out as a clear leader.

bega thanks bro, my car is Jdm and its a 1992 type x, people say bad things about having the boss stereo system but I just couldnt do with out the sun roof. I payed 10900 Canadian for the car/shipping/taxes all that fun stuff. It will be very hard for you to find a perfectly stock car because thats what i was looking for. But their are lots of almost stock cars. the one i found has a aftermarket catch tank a turbo timer and a few other stuff like that. pretty much stock in my mind.
