I vote for someone to make a block off plate for this

So this is the second fc that has done this. The problem is with the neck to the water pump. The plastic piece on the top starts to fail and constantly leaks. I wish they made a block of plate for it or never even put the stupid thing in there in the first place. Just wondering any other solutions other than making my own block off plate. Both are s4 engines so I don't think a s5 will fit?

Why block it off? I have one laying around that I don't need- it is an oem one made of aluminum- I even have the o ring for it. This neck is at the highest point, and filling the radiator from this point is the ONLY way you can be sure to get all the air out of your system on the S4.

I've always wondered why there wasn't such a system on the S5, it's a pain to remove all the air.

Cause they moved the filler from the thermostat cover to the opposite side of the radiator...

Stupid Canadiens...

Ya its mainly cause I need this car to drive 400 miles and not have a major problem. Thats why I am pissed, more pissed about the fact that they all have plastic instead of the aluminum. I blocked it off on my n/a. You still can use the bleeder valve on the side of the radiator. True its easier to remove air from the highest point, just hate that they didn't build a better neck design.

Go to the local metal store and get some 1/4" plate. Trace the shape of your broken plastic part onto the metal and cut it out with a jigsaw and metal blade. Drill the two mounting holes. There's you blockoff plate. Shouldn't take more then 20 minutes to make.

But that doesn't make it any easier to remove the air from the system when filling it.

Highest point in the system = best place to fill it from, yes?

You do know that the radiator cap is designed to be the weak point in the sytem right? I the car of an overheating the cap will leak before any hoses explode.

Well there are already 2 other caps on the system. Personally I never had problems with removing air from the system with it blocked off.

Ya I just didn't want to do it at 10:30 tonight oh well. I tried ghetto fixing it with JB weld and if that fails ill do the plate. In the end probably get that aluminum piece when i have time.

No need to bash other countries, but while we're at it lets look at some history

We're the only country in the world to ever succesfully invade the US (war of 1812), and it just so happens that the White House was burnt down during said invasion. You guys started it by trying to invade us though.

http://www.deadtroll.com/index2.html -> click on audio and then listen to "The War of 1812 song"

Also, lets have a look at whose currency is worth more these days, here's a clue, it's not yours.

Now back to the subject at hand. I don't really think it's "cheaping out" to use some plastic, it lasted what, 20 years before failing, that's not too bad at all and is beyond the design life of the car anyway.

Most of you guys don't understand, cause it's a spillover from my thread in The Lounge...
Go see the US $ versus CAN $ thread where that bitch went rampaging in my thread with no provocation.

Sorry for the others that were insulted by my comment.
It was directed at one person.
Yes, I'm going to be childish and claim: "he started it first..."

Actually, get the car on level ground and eyeball the filler cap.
It does end up being a high point in the cooling system.
The problem is that air can get trapped in the thermostat cover!
This is why I tend to run the engine a few minutes with the rad cap off just to get all the bubbles out of the system and then refill if necessary...
