I don't see why rallying a FC should be a problem. The FB has been a long time favorite of rally racing. Is the FC a bad idea just because they cost more than $1500.00? If I had a salvage turbo to play with I might t use it to live some small WRC dreams.

OK two more things:
Mephis- did you hit a rally school, or just get an SCCA membership, build a car and go. I'm really interested in rally and have a couple cars I wouldn't mind chancing an encounter with a tree.
badassfox- There have been very few full production racecars built for the street. The rx is one of them. If it didn't have a race temperment you wouldn't have the flloding problems, oil consumption issues, stiff ride, 50/50 weight distribution or any of the other things that set our cars apart. I don't know anbout you, but my car attacks corners with a racing vigor 90% of the time... that's why I love it.

ditto. i found a wrc worthy backroad in lexington. unfortunately my front struts are shot so the front will "walk" under bumpy conditions and kept me pretty slow through corners. there was also some left over snow here and there. felt a bit different then the camry did out at land between the lakes ky, but got my blood going again. going to try and work on a skid plate and mudflaps. and don't bother with flowers guys, i'm not into them.

All I've got to say is BE CAREFUL. I was floating up highway 22 here in KY and I was coming into a corner marked 30, but I should have been able to hang it at the speed I was carrying in, which was about 60. Long story short, without warning, the car oversteered and I ended up in the other lane facing the other direction. Talk about an adrenaline rush.
I don't know what the problem was, but there was no warning from the tires or anything. It could be a suspension with 100,000 + miles on it. But you never know what can happen. I am not saying that I hate people that race or anything, but make sure you know what the car is capable of.

i know that the rx-7 is a sportscar but it is still not a racecar...a wrx would be a rally/racecar or a mustang or a camaro...you know what i mean...the 7's can keep up with them but without a lot of work the others will still go right by you and you will lose just like i did to a camaro

Rx7s are ment to stay on the track not your commom back road with holes and bumps because as it is very easy to loose control.
If anyone reads sportcompactcar they can see a glimpse of an RX7 here and there rallying in the same class as Paul Choinere however you spell his last name in the the amatuer rallying class.
