i took it apart put it together now it wont start...

Ok, well I the other day I noticed my 87 tii was running a little weird, after I turned it off I smelt gas. Well there was a little puddle of gas by the primary injectors. My friend told me his did the same thing and he forgot to put a spacer between the block and fuel rail. So I pulled the UIM off , took the fuel rail off pulled the suspected leaking injector off. The o ring was fine so I put the spacer in and put everything back together. I had a friend start it and I watched to make sure it was not leaking. When it started it sounder weird, and was still leaking gas. The leak was coming from the hose the connects the two fuel rails…so after I got that fixed up, I could not get it to start. I pulled everything apart and double checked everything, the car started and ran like crap, it would rev so so slow and would back fire if I took it to about 3k, it also sounded really weird . So I pulled EVERYTHING apart again hoping to find a mistake and found none. I have no idea what could of gone wrong, it feels like its almost running off one rotor, any ideas?
thanks
scot

I only removed one plug, so it sould be on the right one, and the plugs are not broke, and felt tight against the injector

maybe by replacing the fuel lines you got them crossed? i dont know if it will even run with them backwards but remember the inlet, filter side goes to the primary i believe... or maybe its the secondary... ok dont listen to me about where it goes cause i forget but i think it goes to the primary rail

well the only line i fixed was the one that goes from the primary to the secondary, and i just replaced the clamp(the old one was broke). only thing i can see going wrong is something with the injector. could something have got in to the primary hole and clog it or does it go strait in to the houseing?

its running and sounding similar to a lawnmower (AKA one rotor). sounds like mine did when the engine was blown. i dont see what could have gone wrong with it just pulling the injector out lol. im going to help him check to make sure both primaries are firing and we will go from there.

Do the unflooding procedure, make sure the ground for the injectors (on the top of the block) is attached, and check the lines for cracks. Also check the PD for leaks. If that doesn't give any insight, remove the injector and check the nozzle to see if the pin is depressed. Send them to be cleaned and flowtested. A good place for that is www.witchhunter.com and as a last resort, get a compression test.

i dont think compression is an issue. it ran when we parked it in there. didnt run after he put it back together. i guess it is POSSIBLE, but unlikely. probably something stupid and small that is overlooked

it's possible that when you unplugged the injector you broke the brittle wire or something so the injector isn't getting any power.

did you take any intake manifold off to check the injectors? you might need new gaskets too.

did the vacuum hose going to the fuel pressure sensro fall out? (on end of secondary fuel rail)

that's all I can think of, just make sure all the intake hoses are tight and all vacuum lines are accounted for.

possibly disloged some contaminates...IE dirt on the pintle of the injector, thus making it clogged and not allowing full flow. Or you just didn't put everything back together correctly Check and Recheck..It's easy to overlook the small things. The stuff you are the most sure about, is usually the parts you overlook....
