Unhappy I think I am going to be sick

Granted it is his car and he can do whatever he wants to it. And I guess he really loved this setup, but me personally, well as stated above I think I am going to be sick.

I am against V8 swaps but I am a sucker for those GN powered RX's. I mean god damm that a lot of power. A modified one of those would dominate everything.

Anything different is bad, thats not right, he shouldn't do that, it wasn't meant to be that way, it's ugly, I disagree, anyone who does that is stupid, blah blah blah boo hoo!

Actually, I really like the look of the GN. It's just plain menacing...I plan to own one at some point...

to each their own...

leave them be.

If I happened to find just a shell of an rx7, I would do a v8 swap and what not.. assuming I couldn't get a rotary engine.

Now.. if the car already had a engine in it - and it wasn't blown, etc..... then I'd be a little ugh about it... but to each their own.

These threads pop all the time... and it gets kinda annoying you guys gotta bash them for what THEY want to do. Don't like it, we understand, but why feel the need to post it?

like I've mentioned in other posts, the TII engine has come potential. HOWEVER, so do alot of other engines. Why not congratulate the guy on picking an Rx7? Instead people hate on them for swapping in a V8. Personally, if (actually WHEN) my engine goes, I hope I'm out of Penn State so I can put a GNX engine in it. I don't know about a 350, but I like the idea of a GN engine swap.

Yeah, I think it's cool to see a V8 actually work (fit well) in an rx7. I mean, hell.. didn't jimlab's car... have a v8 swap in it? Has it ran yet? I believe he's been at it for a few years...

I never heard of a GN swap before, I read about it on their site, I think it's pretty cool....

IMO, if I had the chance....and my engine ever blew (whether it be my n/a, or when I get my TII and it blows) I want to do(semi-order):

1. j-spec - maybe with a bridge or J port
2. if my n/a - bridge port
3. if/when I get a TII and it blows - bridge port or J-bridge port
4. v8 swap
5. LT1 swap...

anyway, again to each their own. Don't like it, don't read it... How did you ever find the site? You searched. Bah.... Who cares what they do, just like RestoTII said - congratulate them, quit dissing them.

It's just a car.... there are better things to be worrying about. A V8 swap has its advantages in some areas, where as the rotary has its advantages in others. It all boild down to what "you" want. I don't need some Rotary Natzi telling me my car is an abomination.

I bet all of you v-8 haters would change your mind instantly if he gave you a ride. The first time he jumped on it and you had your head sucked back in the seat so far that it hurt, youd probably think it was pretty cool then

I was amazed when I felt the difference in mild accelleration. Off the line torque is something that I never experienced in my TII. It's fun to just blip the throttle when the light turns green and watch the front end shoot up. Plus the sound of a V8 with headers & full exhaust going through a pair of dynomax mufflers never gets old. I've caught quite a few people off gaurd.

the best is when the "rotary *****" don't own a rotary engine, are saving to buy the most unreliable Rotary engine, and yet still bitch about replacing the engine in the car

the whole point of a rx-7 is the rotary engine but its pretty cool that he did the swap.

the whole point of an Rx7 isn't a well balanced sports car that can perform well? Cause that's most of the reason I bought it. Having an engine that mechanics can't work on, you can't find many parts for at reasonable prices, and breaks all the time weren't some of the biggest selling points for me

edit: not to totally disagree... I like the idea of saying I have no pistons and stuff too. Just showing the other sides of the arguments. I'm kind of torn on the rotary vs piston thing actually

I will also say that there is nothing like a properly running turbo rotary. My turbo II sounded like a Jet when I used to get on it. In the winter the *** in used to get loose when I would gun it from a roll. It would lag for a second, but once it got to about 4500rpm it would roast them 245/45 16 toyo proxis like there was no tommorow. You couldn't even feel it when I shifted into second because it would just immediatley roast the tires again. I had serious traction problems. My TII has 160K miles on the original motor, and I beat the **** out of it. The only bogus thing is that there has been an electrical problem regarding the boost sensor that I haven't been able to fix. My sister has been driving it for the past year or so. It will be for sale soon.... for an extremely reasonable price.

The whole "point" of the rx-7 was to have a well balanced car with near 50/50 weight distribution that handles extremely well, has a cockpit like interior, and nice exterior styling. Granted the rotary is a very nice thing, I love that most people have never even heard of a rotary before, let alone understand it at all. Yes the rotary is the reason that there is such a cult following of these cars, and its very unique. But there is more to the rx-7 than just the engine. Having a high torque engine in a lightweight car can be a very nice combination. If you spend the time and money to do the swap right, you can some out with a car that weights the same or even slightly Less than the rotary. A LT1 with aluminum heads weighs about the same as a 13b.

Here is some good information on a GN powered RX.
I have seen his car in person... it's unbeleivably kick ***. The cool thing about the FN drivetrain swap is that you can monitor and tune your whole engine with a laptop. He even has a display screen on his computer that has a tach, boost, gauge, oil/water temp, etc and its all real time. A have to swap a GN motor into something. Maybe a First Gen..... hmmm

I've seen that misred site... pretty badass car. That's the website that got me thinking of a GN swap. It's amazing what those engines can do, and for not much money either. but for now, I'm just hoping the engine in my TII can live for another year or two till I find a job (career fair tomorrow better get me an interview) and make money to pay off school and get a daily driver

I have seen a few guys in turbo buicks run high 11 second qtr miles with a total investment of 1K dollars in modifications. Now take away 500 pounds or so, and you have an easy low 11/high 10 second car.
