Okay obviously I didn't have my flame suit ready. If you failed to read the opening line of my first statement go back and read it now. I never bashed him and said he shouldn't do it or anything like that. I said it is his car he can do whatever the **** he wants. And don't tell me that I would change me mind if I had a ride in it. A good friend of mine has a 280 ZX with a LS1 engine in it. I know what it feels like to have ***** to the walls action right off the line with a light car and a big engine. And thank you RestoTII for your comment. I WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT I AM 18. I AM IN COLLEGE. I AM SAVING UP FOR A 7. YES THAT IS RIGHT I DON'T OWN WON BECAUSE I AM POOR. MY PARENTS ARE POOR AND SO AM I SO I AM SAVING UP TO TRY AND BUY THE CAR THAT I LIKE. I AM SO SORRY IF NO ONE ELSE HERE UNDERSTANDS THE POINT THAT IN COLLEGE YOU GENERALLY DON'T HAVE A LOT OF MONEY AND YOU HAVE TO TAKE WHAT YOU HAVE AND MAKE IT GO AS FAR AS YOU CAN. SO BECAUSE I DON'T OWN A 7 YET THAT MAKES ME A LESSER PERSON THAN EVERY GOD DAMNED PERSON ON THIS FORUM THAT HAS ONE. I NEVER SAID I THOUGHT HIS CAR WAS UGLY, I NEVER SAID I THOUGHT IT WAS STUPID THAT HE PUT A DIFFERENT ENGINE IN THERE. I NEVER SAID THAT IT WAS SACRALIGICE. I SAID THAT I, ME , PATRICK THORPE STEINER, IN MY OWN OPINION, DON'T LIKE V8 SWAPS. I AM SORRY IF I AM SO GOD DAMNED WRONG FOR HAVING A ******* OPINION. I am sorry for anyone who noted that I was not hating on his car. Sorry for everyones trouble. I'll just go sit in a ******* corner now and be dunce that way everyone who now hates me for not liking V8 swaps will be happy. I am sorry that I have pissed so many people off and that people must feel dumber now after reading this post.

Whats wrong with wanting to go fast? 2 rotor turbo'd engines arent going to make you king of the street without dumping in a good amount of cash, but going to a pushrod v8 will easily get you there in a 2500# car . I guess I feel the same shudder when someone puts a Chevy engine in a Ford but that RARELY happends. There just isnt enough parts out there for rotarys imho, and what is out there is mucho $$

Hey... I suddenly remember why I went to university instead of college, I CAN SPELL "ONE"!
(edit: oh wait, maybe this is the american spelling... lol... )

I AM SORRY IF I AM SO GOD DAMNED WRONG FOR HAVING A ******* OPINION.
There is nothing "SO GOD DAMNED WRONG" with having a "******* OPINION",
BUT:
a) just 'cause you have it doesn't mean you have to share it
b) This **** comes up daily... why not just post a reply to one of those, and go read something... (a dictionary might help... )

I am sorry
Good. Now don't do it again.

actually one of those cars was only putting out 275hp... now a fd motor puts out 260? stock so whats the big difference? wouldnt the cars be just as fast? but with a 13b probable faster becouse its lighter?

The v8 has a much easier powerband to work with, and much more torque. 50/50 weight distribution can still be attained if the conversion is done right. The difference in weight between a 13bt and a small block ford or chevy is not really that much, and "I have heard "in some cases the v8 can be lighter than a stock turbo rotary.

v8s

I have no problems with v8's or swaps....but when people make stupid statements about how a rotary can't be made fast without tons of work..... FUC# OFF...

hehehe...

serously, it doesn't take too much money to make a tII fast..... Come race my TII in your v8 swaps!!bwahahaha...

Serously though...TII's can be made just as fast.

89 TII
large street port motor/2mm 2piece seals/
Microtech Standalone EMS
Garrett t04 H3 Trim
1100cc Secondaries
Greddy FMIC

Yes RX-7s can be fast as hell with the rotarys. They still don't touch the bang for buck factor as a SBC. Not to say that one is better than the other. Im just saying that the SBC has more power potential and better bang for the buck when power is the main goal.... but that goes without saying. Looking at your sig alone shows me that you have spent alot of money on your motor. You have a sweet build up that is almost Identical to the rotary build up I wanted. I guess it also depends on what you consider fast too... I would guess that your car runs 11's?

Rotary's area under the curve SUCKS compared to that of a v8, even if a comparable rotary engine was pushing the same amount of hp at its peak, you can pretty much gurantee the v8's going to pull it pretty hard since it'll be pulling near its peak through its powerband.

Its whatever floats your boat I guess, I am a huge ford lover, but I've decided agasint throwing a 302 based engine into my $250 Rx7. Instead, we're about to head to the junk yard to find a wrecked TII, we probably wont find one, but if so, we're going to town with it

Hey, who the hell cares. If they do the swap right and professionally its cool. Im definitly against doing a v8 swap on a budget and rigin ****, but that guy seems like he took his time and planned it out. True, you shouldnt trash the great rx7 chassis w/ pushrod **** for a street or autox car, but if you want a drag car its not too bad of an option.

There's a guy in town here who threw a V8 in an FC. My jaw dropped when he showed me (unhappy drop.) Anyway, the point of this post is that he was complaining that he couldn't get the car much past 60 mph.

More a comment on his mechanical abilities than on a V8 swap. So... there are people out there who **** it up.

If you want it to be highway worthy you need to use an overdrive tranny. I personally have a powerglide and the car cruises at 60 MPH at 3000 RPM. I don't use an overdrive tranny because they weigh more, and the powerglide suits my needs. I cross the traps at about 6500rpm. Thats about 2500rpm past my peak HP with the cam that I have now. With a cam that pulls to 6500 rpm I should be screaming through the traps in the sweet spot of my HP curve.

To BogusFile: your comment to me just seemed really childish. I am sorry if you have to put people down to make your self feel better. It hurts me to see someone who has such low self esteem. Oh yeah, I will make sure to find a nice corner to go "pout in," since that is obviously what I am doing, in the largest dorming complex in the world, which I happen to represent. Oh yeah and I will make sure to bring my boyfriend, considering his name is Jennifer.
To V8RX7com: I never said that a V8 swap was a bad idea. You can literally read anything I wrote, it isn't in there because I don't think it is a bad idea, I had an opinion which obviously is stupid to some of these people.
to autocrash: Yes, I am sorry. I am not an English major. I am an Automotive Mechanical Engineer major. I should have made the destinction. I am also sorry that I use the term "college" and "university" fairly freely. Yes I go to a University. Pennsylvania State University to be exact. I hope that makes you happier. And thank you, I have won scholarships for essays that I wrote. Oh yeah, I never had any spelling or gramatical errors in them when my teachers read them.
And to everyone else that thought that it was so wrong to have an opinion, or at least to express mine: I will make sure to tell Student Government that opinions are stupid and we shouldn't allow them during our next meeting.
