I think he's crazy!

I was e-mailing a guy from racing beat to find out about headers and he said that a catpipe replacement would give me as much as a horsepowergain as streetable headers. Is this true beacuse the pipe is a lot cheaper and it just didn't seem right. I don't know maybe because it's streetable(goes to the y-pipe instead of the two straight pipes) that it gives less. Please help. I would get pre-silencers with bobth even though i wasn't sure I would need them just with the replacement cat.

Just because its cheaper doesnt mean that it wouldnt give you a pretty good increase in power, its just alot easier to make and less material to use. I cant say for sure but im sure it is compairable in performace increase as a header would give you.

The catalyitc converters are the most restrictive part of the entire exhaust system. So, yes, a cat replacement will do a whole lot for the hp gains. Trust Racing Beat, they have been building worl class rotaries for 22 years now! They rule! Buying the headers would be the next step up. The best option (and I know this will start a arguement) would be to run a RB header, presilencer, and single exhaust, Mabye I am just biased, cuz that is what I just ordered!!!!

Thanks for the info but the guy told me I couldn't have the catpipe and the headers on so I really couldn't do it. But seriously what would you recommend the headers or the cat-pipe. I was thinkin hearders personally but let me know.

Actually, I just spoke to a guy about the same thing. He told me to go to www.mazdatrix.com, and pick up one of their high flow cats, and it will bolt right in between the header and the factory y-pipe. If you buy the headers, you HAVE TO buy either the presilencer from RB or the muffler at Mazdatrix. The stock cat will not work, as it is too long to attach the header to the y-pipe! If you are looking to replace only 1 component, buy a Bonez high flow cat at www.rx7.com. The header/presilencer combo at RB costs $400 bucks, but will give LOTS of hp. Good Luck!

Man RacingBeat is honest, most salesmen would try to convince you to buy the more expensive header. RacingBeat is the best.
