I sobbed like a little girl... poor Turbo II

There is such a nice turbo II (i'm almost positive its an s4) parked behind an auto mechanic in Sunnyvale, CA. The exterior is almost perfect, it does have some graffiti on the drivers side door, though. I looked inside, and the interior looks like it was made yesterday. It's white, with blue cloth interior, and it even has the 'Turbo II' decals on the sides.

The most strange thing is that the tires look almost perfect, decent amount of tread, fully inflated, and everything, but the outside tread is worn down INSANELY far, but its only on the front tires, and only on the very outside inch of tread.

Also, the tags haven't been updated since 2000. and its so dirty i looks like its been sitting since then.

I don't have much money, but I was planning on asking the shop if they would let it go for cheap. What do you guys think would be the issue with the tires? Why would it only be on the outside of the front tires?

Also, if you're in the area, let me know, and i'll tell you where the shop is... it would be nice to get another 7 back on the roads, before they're added to the endangered species list.

Offer them 250 bucks for it. They probably don't even have the title to the car anyway...

Here's what I can do then, I'll ask whats wrong with it, if its anything major, like an engine, i'll pick the car up, and part it out for everyone on the cheap.

I hate to tear a nice car up, but if its something like the motor, maybe I can find someone who wants to drop a stupid, loud, pushrod driven engine in, and all the little stuff can go to helping everyone else out.

I'll be out of town until next week, but i'll probably stop in to talk to them on tuesday, I think. Also, let me know if you want the car in its entirety, you can paypal me the money, i'll grab the car for you, and we can work out the shipping arraignments, or you can pick it up, if your local.

If you have a place to put it, buy it and keep it until you can put an engine in. If you don't have the money or skill to do this now, you have some time to learn and do it yourself later.

Believe me, I would love to store it and learn/fix it up for myself, but I live in an apt, and I've already had a car almost towed for storing it on the street. It is a good idea though, and I might put some thought into it if the price is right.
