It does this all the time, if I run it for at least a half hour, and turn it off and say go into the mall or something, I come out and it wont start until like a good 2 minutes of cranking. Ive even gotten curious and fucked with the old egi comp fuse as if it were flooded. But that really didnt have any affect. This car has other problems too though, like wont idle, runs hot sometimes if I sit too long, exhaust baffles, so i think the starting problem might just be part of my problem package deal.

My turbo does the exact same thing...My problem is leaky and old injectors...it floods everytime i turn it off. Until i have the money to get new injectors i wired a switch to my fuel pump, I just start it with the fp off then switch it on when it sounds like its turning over and it works everytime, i know its ghetto!!!

although with leaky injectors, shouldnt your car still idle ?? Does it not idle all the time, or just when you let it sit for like half an hour ??

Could be leaky injectors... but I believe that most people are too quick to point the finger at leaky injectors as THE cause of flooding. There are actually several other problems that can cause flooding of our cars. Honestly because he is complaining about idle issues... I think he should check his compression, I have the feeling he will find that it is borderline (at best)

Good luck and I really hope that I'm wrong...

PS- just noticed that the motor only has 14k miles on it.... so the above is a LOT less likely than I originally stated I'll try to find this document that I had on the topic that went through step-by step the causes of flooding.

If the air flow meter is loose the car will idle very badly, and if it's loose enough the car won't start.
