SC I need Smoother acceleration

usually only in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear if i accelerate faster than normal it stops for a second and jerks you forward a little. it feels like performance robbing but its only at 100,000 miles. anyone know how to get the engine cleaner or help to stop this.

Does this jerk occur during a certain RPM range?

I wouldn't use a power washer, and also make sure the engine is COLD before spraying water in there.

Also, be careful what kind of degreaser you use. Make sure it is safe for aluminum, and don't just take the word of a parts store clerk, read the bottle.

ANYTHING with sodium hydroxide or anything that says "test in unconspicuous area first" when talking about aluminum, don't use it. It'll cause nasty white spots.

um...... not refering to soap and water. Clean your connections means unfasten them use 320grit or so sandpaper to resurface them, then reattach them.

For cleaning engine, i am a fan of "gunk" sitting for 10min, then use of a pressurewasher from a distance, followed by an airgun to blow out electrical connections. (which has catballs to do with his hesitation)

now that i read there is a lot on the hesitation.(should be stickied) thats what i thought you meant by grounds but with a car i like to be extra careful. thanks a lot for the input, i definitely do need to "clean" the engine, now that i notice how nasty it is...but i meant the inside...like STP fuel cleaners or somethin.

Cleaning the internals can be done a few different ways. Some people like Seafoam, MMO (Marvels Mystery Oil), or just water. I used MMO this past weekend on my keg that has 140k on the ticker and the butt dyno definately tells me its pulling harder now.

Just get some MMO, dump about a tablespoons worth in the leading (lower) spark plug holes of the engine and put the plugs back in. Get a socket to turn the main pulley on the motor. Rotate the motor backwards a few times to make sure the oil has made its way into the seals good. Let it sit for anywhere from 30min to 24 hours. The longer you let it sit, the better the results. But be ready for some smoke when it starts up.

This has been a proven method by many people on the forum. I think their was actually someone on this forum that claimed a 20psi compression gain from cleaning out the carbon.

Yeah... Seafoam will clean out your injection system faster than any over the counter diarretic you could find for yourself.

No worries, thats what this is for.

Good luck with the fix.

Inexpensive took kits are available at biglots. You can prob come away with a full set for 40 dollars. The will "PEEL" though if your arent generous with the pb blaster.

Get some hose that'll plug into one of your vaccum lines near the intake as possible, run a gal or two of water through while revving it up 4k or so, tons of steam will shoot out, good.

I've done it to two rotary engines, 13b n/a and 12a n/a, both got good results. The 13b started easier and runs happier, the 12a now revs from 4.5-5k rpm to the redline, revs quicker.

yea its good to ask, i almost filled my car w/ synthetic oil before reading on here... but on both sites it (MMO + SeaFoam) they say its for pretty much any engine. do you recommend just putting it in the tank or going through the spark plugs like Novak said? keep in mind im noob...

Hold on there, my fellow rotorhead...

g14novak was talking about MMO going in the chambers, not Seafoam.

Seafoam usually goes in through a vacuum hose into your intake for best effect (read instructions on the can as always).

You can put it in the gas tank, but it'll be diluted with your fuel. I did a quick google search and found some trouble with fuel pumps messing up due to gunk being lossened in the gas tank.

As a once noob myself, read up on the top threads that are stickied (permanently placed at the top) and the archives. You'll learn sh*t quick! BTW, I have some links (courtesy of others) in my sig. (hint - FSM).

edit: it's good to add your car info (year, trim, mods, etc.) to your sig. in case you forget to mention it when you post.

Yea i knew he meant that. I think that sounds like the easiest way. Im bout to go get some new tools and MMO. Ill have my friend at the shop do some seafoam later on, hes pretty smart and i dont wanna mess with tubes. (had a bad antifreeze problem after i replaced the radiator)
