I need a opinion on a s4 T2?
This is a black 87 T2 that was rebuilt by rotary resurrection supposely. It is being sold by one of the locals and he wants 3500 for it.
The Good:
It has new shocks and coils,
intake,
FCD (brand unknown),
I think APR 17 inch wheels,
3 inch downpipe and presilencer with I think 2.5 inch duals into motoria mufflers,
s5 tails,
The Bad:
The red interior is perfect except for the sun visors (which isn't a big deal),
has body damage on front passenger fender and a big dent in the rear driver quater panel,
has an aftermarket spoiler but you have to be a rx7 enthusiast to know if it is stock or not.
The two passenger side tires need to be replaced.
The power steering rack will probably need to be replaced here soon because it has had a torn boot for a while.
The rear differential mount is broken and it needs a new seal.
Jeff thinks it might be running lean so he wants me to get a wide band.
Also if that then a Rtek Chip for the ecu.
The tag is about to go out of date here in a month.
It has a hot start problem but very rarely.
The engine just had a small engine fire. I'm not saying that rotary resurrection didn't catch the pulsation dampener. I don't even know if he actually rebuilt it. I respect the guy I wish I knew just as much as he did. Anyways it was taken to one of the local enthusiast by the name of Jeff also known as scrip7 at his shop. He found out that the injector connection was bad on the harness, it needed new omp lines, a new pulsation dampener, he also replaced the fuel lines. Now it is running strong with a little bit of time and effort. It has 110 psi on each rotor to.
Now my questions are.
Should I get it for the price?
If so should I expect it to have another engine fire?
Is it worth it?
Since winter is coming up and it is about 5 inchs off the ground with a rear wheel drive vehicle. In Oklahoma since there has been an ice storm every year can I drive it?
If not can I put chains on it and drive it?
I appreciate any answers. Thanks Matt

Also wanted to stat that pulsation dampner's go out all the time so it is not rotary resurrections fault. Also I don't know if he did build the engine also stated in the post.

honestly, i dont know too much about rx7s since the one i have is my first. but i don think thats a good deal. heck i bought mine for around that price and the only big prob i have is its idle, which really isnt that big of a deal.
i would only offer about 2500 for it.

Yeah I talking to RR and he told me about how he only sends the short block.
I'm going to see if I can get a picture of the car and post it.

I think $3500 is way too much. $1500 is closer to it. The body sounds very rough and the diff mount and PS rack are both "major" repairs. A big dent in the quarter may mean a new quarter and it sounds like it needs new fenders. Hmm...maybe $1500 is too much.

Yeah. Lowball him 15k. If he doesn't take it, raise it by a hundred. I wouldn't pay more than 2g's for it. When you build a car, you should expect to never get what you invested back out of it. I spent well over 6k into my dsm minus the cost of the car. I ended up trading it for technically 2 fc's. I tried selling it for $4k for a few months, dropped it down to $3.5k and then dropped it to $2.5k. Nobody had the money. Some *** didn't read my listing and wanted to trade a 300k+ mile bone stock eg for it w/o cash on his end. Another guy wanted to traded a bagged mazda truck and finally i got a call about the fc and it wasn't worth anywhere near my asking price.
Buying and selling cars is tough business.

Define "winter".
Here in Denver we get several light snows a year...the RX works fine.
I have a second set of rims with "all season radials" that I put on and really have no trouble...believe it or not, all cars used to be rear wheel drive and people seemed to manage OK.
Every couple of years we get a real blizzard and no one is going anywhere- in a three foot snow dump the RX is equally as useless as a Land Cruiser. Besides, if the whole city is shut down, where are you going anyway?
If the car has been lowered, it tends to high center if the snow is deep enough.
That can be a problem.
If you don't have a rear wiper and your heating element is not perfect, the rear glass is useless in fast falling snow- visibility gets really bad.
This can be a blessing if it hides the Escalade slaloming down the hill behind you...or maybe not. Depends on whether you subscribe to the "ignorance is bliss" theory.
On the upside, the RX has a great heater.
