I need help (oil pressure problems)
I had my engine rebuilt about 1500 mls ago, but now i don't have enough oil pressure. when i sit at red lights it almost drops to zero and when i am driving i doesnt go past 60 psi. I had the car on jack stands, i didnt see my mystery leak that i have, but maybe i just didnt know where to look. Please help me, I would hate to loose my car for something like this.

year?could be many things. If you have an 86-88 the rebuilder could have made a mistake with the oil passage in the front cover. Mazda changed the gasket to be an 89-91 model in the kits and did not tell anyone. If not installed correct you get and internal leak that will cause psi to drop.

Or on the less dramatic and simpler side, the wire to your oil pressure sending unit might not have a good contact. You can check this by looking at the bell-shaped thing sticking out sideways from just beneath your oil filter. There should be a connector that slides (hooks on, not push on) onto the end of the bell shaped thing. The wire would be yellow with a red stripe. Check that and make sure it's got a good, clean connection.

i agree that it might be something simple as well. Always check the easiest (and cheapest) solution first. Do take the time to ask your rebuilder how he handled the o ring in the front cover. A phone call is cheap, just to be sure.

I appreciate all the info thus far, I'll check the wire tommorow. But i didnt know about that gasket thanks for telling me. What about that O ring in the front cover, could you be a little bit more specific? Also I am sure this isnt quite the same but I am using 10w30 in the engine, I know its too thin for the summer and I am going to change it, but would that increase the pressure at all?
