i need a front mount incooler
i need a front mount incooler
im not really asking if anyone one has one but i am asking if i should use a volvo or should i just buy and aftermarket one and if i go with the volvo do they make pipeing for it or do i need to get it made? i know i sound like a retard but i just wanna hear comments from people that know more about rx-7s then i do so i don't **** **** up
Other than the piping that comes with the couple of pre-made kits on the market (i.e. GReddy, HKS), it's pretty much going to be custom.
There was someone over on the Team forum that was supposed to be doing piping kits but I'm not sure what came of that. It shouldn't be too hard to search over there and find out, though! Good luck!

Some have use Volvo intercoolers in the past. They seem to work but you are limited due to their small inlets/outlets. Pipe is something you will have to fabricate which is only a small part of the project since these coolers require you to relocate the radiator, build brackets, etc.
buy a core off ebay and fab up your own pipes if you plan on making it harder than it needs to be. Or just buy the Greddy kit that was made it fit.

Use a stock Mitsubishi Starion intercooler. I think they are 16 row....

thats in bad condition...he got a new one, and cleaned it up and its nice and shiny...they are cheap too...check ebay.

ya i need cheap cuz im a cheap bastard i only have a 100 a week to spend on my car so i have to keep the prices down.....i need my mufflers soon so i can't spend a hole lont on a intercooler and pipeing
I just mounted up my starion IC last weekend.. I couldn't believe how easy it was to get in there! I fabbed two "L" brackets, and it basically was bolt in! Crazy, crazy stuff
But in Matt's interest:
Starion ICs are crap! Don't use a Starion IC.. They'll look horrible and take hundreds of hours to install!
/did I do okay, Matt?

Starions work ok if you're absolutely dead broke and you have no fabricating skills at all. As wonko said, they bolt in stupidly easily, all I made was a step bracket and bolted it to the frame rail to already existing holes years ago. I ditched it about a month later for a greddy though.

Eh, i'm hoping mine will be decent enough for me.. It's like "Fischer-Price's Your-First-Turbo" for Wonko.. I've never gotten to play with a turbo vehicle, so I'm starting mine slow, and working up
The Starion FMIC's aren't the best by any means. But they are just fine for stock turbo apps or smaller hybrids. I got mine but then decided to go with a GT35R so the Starion FMIC just isn't big enough for that. That's why I'm selling it really cheap.
