Arrow I need a clutch

Ok about two months ago i put in a stock clutch kit, and i do get on my car quite often and the clutch slips real bad i can lock it up at all, i want a good clutch that i can put in my car that will not slip my throwout bearing is new my pilot bearing is new and my pressure plate is good, so im guessing the reason its slipping is cause the stocker sux, what a good clutch i can get that is compatible with the stock pressure plate.

Any suggestions open

U Think its the clutch or the pressure plate that is slipping and when its slipping u can smell it really bad inside and outside the car,

clutch disk. pressure plates don't slip, clutch disks do.

Then why do aftermarket pressure plates say better holding power, what is the advantage of a better pressure plate

Pressure plate does exactly that. putts pressure on the clutch disk, the statement "better holding power" says that it puts more pressure on the friction disk, you can also have a friction disk that is made of slightly softer material so you sacrifice durability for grip ( alot like tires)

the plate clamps down harder onto the disk. The harder the plate can clamp the disk, the more torque it can hold. When the pressure plate cannot clamp down on the disk, the disk slips against the plate and gives you that god awful smell, and that slipping sensation.

edit: damnit i got beat to the punch

also check out www.rx7.com I installed the RP Clutch kit and am very satisfied. They have all types to choose from along with a good description of each.

no, I think the pp is trying its hardest to clamp, but the disk is too worn so there is no grip anymore. If you look at a clutch disk, you see various grooves and whatnot for grip. yours is most likely almost smooth.

did you get a new pressure plate with that kit? also did you do the proper break in for the new clutch disc? if you did not break it in, then you could have glazed it over and it won't hold. the stock clutch disc is nowheres near that bad, especially with the low torque on the NA.

With most new street clutches you are supposed to break them in for the first 500? or so miles by not revving high (over 4k?) or doing anything else overly stressful with them (ie racing/launching your car)

I have an ACT xtreme pressure plate with the ACT street/strip disk. I absolutely love it. The pedal pressure is a little hard, but thats how I like it. Holds like crazy, its never slipped on me yet. www.prostreetonline.com has the best price I've seen...I did a lot of research to find the best price

With any heavy duty pressure plate, make sure your clutch hydraulics are in good shape. This clutch killed my master cylinder in a day when I first installed it. I bought a new master and slave cylinder and haven't had a problem since.

the exedy retails at 325.00 i think that 250.00 is more than fair since it's brand new and the fact its a race clutch 1800 ft # pressure plate with copper face disc. o and i also have a light weight steel flywheel to add for an additional 200.00 not including counterweight
