NICE NICE NICE!

It might be injector problems. You can try injector cleaner or that "compression restorer", which works like a charm on other cars.

If all else fails, you can rebuild the engine!

BTW, how is your car running? I am planning to get an 89 N/A. What I concern the most is its compression and other internal damage.

Could I tell if a car has low compression or internal damage by just driving it?

telus.net ... yeah you can. usually when a car has a dropped apex seal, along with noises, you should see the idle be at about 300 since the engine is running on one rotor only. the idle will be very rough... possibly dies on red lights... if the oil seals are gone, you'll see lots and lots of smoke. if the water jackets are gone, you'll see bubbles in the overflow tank, and coolant on the road

If the car test drives with absolutely no problems, does that mean the car is in good condition?

For the most part yeah. Ok look at the idle. If it is constant at 750 rpm you're good. But if it has low compression or any other problems you'd be able to easily tell.

-As for my problems :
- I found out i have boost, but my guage doesn't work at all. Anyone know why and where the connection is for that on the dash and the metering system.

- And the RPM's bounce when i accelerate. When i try to hold it at a certain RPM it just bounces. IDK why.

A vaccum leak will make the car jump like that. Take some starting fluid, cover your intake with something, spray it in the engine bay on all the vacuums. If the cars idle shoots up or it almost dies that the problem. Change out the vacuum lines. Its best to do all them at the same time. Just in case.
