Angry I just can't seem to solve this stereo problem. :(

So my radios speakers were cutting out after about 20min. It was suggested to me that I remove the factory amps. So I did. They are gone. Now it seems to last a little longer, but the speakers still get all staticy after about 25-30min of use. My only other thought is a loose ground???? I'm gonna check my connections tomarrow. But while I'm in there I though I'd check other things, so what else cou8ld be wrong to make my stereo do this?

Stock deck and stock speakers? Or aftermarket?

I had a problem like that with subs once. The speakers would short out and this would heat up the amp and blow it. Tried another amp that had a safety curcuit and would cut out but then come back. I put new subs in and all my problems were gone. So it could be your speakers but its just that the deck can handle the speakers shorting out a little better then the old factory amps. Let me know what happens.

I'll try new speakers if I can't fix it tomarrow. It's an aftermarket deck and did not start happening until I put it in. I do however have Sony Explode speakers in the back, but stock upfront. The back ones fade as well. But I'll replace the fronts as well and see what happens.

Maybe you can try disconnecting one speaker at a time to pinpoint which one or two or any is to blame. What kind of deck is it?

If you had an aftermarket deck hooked up driving the stock amps, you could have damaged the outputs from the deck and they are overheating. This would follow what you describe or being fine for 20 minutes or so.

It is also possible that you are overdriving the speakers trying to get too much power out of the aftermarket radio.

If you have the radio on at moderate levels (say as loud as you would while talking to someone) and it still over heats and sounds bad only after 20 minutes or so, then I would say the radio was damaged or there is an wiring issue.

If the radio is at moderate levels and it doesn't have the problem, then you are cranking the radio too loud and should get an aftermarket amplifer for the speakers.

I always had the radio on moderate levels. I'm not into loud car stereos. Perhaps I'll add a cooling fan to it from a computer since they also run on 12V.

a fan won't fix it if it is crapping out at moderate volumn... sounds like either the radio is wired incorrectly or that the internal amplifer in the radio has been damaged.

I would take the radio back to where you got it from and have it replaced.

Then when you get a new or reparied one, make sure the amps have been bypassed correctly and that the system is wired correctly before hooking up the new radio.

Reground the radio

Run a different ground wire to someplace else, and wire each speaker to the Head unit properly. Make sure ur not bridging the head unit. Most units only do 4 ohms.

Else ur radio is screwed up.

Good Luck

here's the radio wires again...

LTBlue/Red= 12v+
LtBlue/White= +Accessory
LtBlue/Yellow= -power ant trigger
Red/Black=+ Lumination
White=Factory Amp Turn on

Ground to the body, use the 10mm bolt behind the center console front drivers access panel. Do not use the Red/Black as ground it will damage the interior light circuit and dimmer in the car

Front Speakers (maximum of a 15 watt peak from the radio):
LtGreen/Red= Left
LtGreen/Black= Left

LtGreen= Right
LtGreen/Yellow=Right

Rear Speakers (if applicable, if you have the amplified rear speakers again the Maximum of 15 watts peak is all the stock speaker amp input can handle):
Brown= Left rear
Brown/White= Left Rear

LtBlue= Right Rear
LtBlue/Orange=Right Rear

By the way, when it starts to fade and get staticy, if I hit the brakes it instantly comes in crystal clear. When I release them, it goes back to fading. Any ideas????

That sounds like a bad ground on the radio or antenna. Where is the radio grounded???

I grounded it on one of the 2 bottom screws that the stock radio bolted into. It was the only ground I could find. I'll try the bolt you spoke of earlier.
