Hey kabooski...so you didn't use a TII ECU or any aftermarket one? How's that? I figured you would have to do sumin. Do you know what kind of boost you are runnin? How much did the swap cost anyways? Thanks.

nice
but more info
clutch type
tires
boost level

does he have a electric fan etc
all that makes a diff

not to be picky but custom TID's are proven to give more power
2 PSI of extra in some cases
also he swaped his 88 turbo for a 91

It's ok, once I put in the ACT clutch and some drag radials
Ill be hitting 12's
just the way my car is, adding nothing to the motor.
when I did this pass my clutch was slipping a bit in third and fourth gears
(speed shifting)

also I have NO turbo II hood for my stock top mount intercooler

Well, take is as you want, since we didnt take this car to the track, but last summer, my buddies fc, before his new setup, was running only...

HKS Filter
Racing Beat 2.5" downpipe
2.5" midpipe
Paul Kos FCD

and a stock catback, nothing else

Car did consistent very low 5 sec 0-60, his best was a 5.0

We built the car just for fun, cost a total of 900 for the body, we used his old motor and filter and exhaust from his wrecked fc. So total cost would have been 1600?

Forgot to add...

Stock motor
195/60/15 Pirellis

My GXL cost me $700
6 port motor was leaking water into the engine
so I took the motor that was in my SE (Turbo II)
and put in it in the GXL cause it had a better suspension

I plan on 3/4 chassing my 87 SE and putting in a ford 9"
but thats another story

he's got a crappy centerforce clutch and some regular Kumho tires, and i think he said his boost hits about 9-10 psi, he doesnt have a boost controller.

Ahhh, yes, but you rebuilt and ported your motor for an additional $800 dollars, and got a mild port out of it.

And a full 3 inch exhaust, which anyone could say is better than a 2.5 dp/mp and stock cat back...

Dude I saw your car, and I saw that run. Me and my buddy assumed it was Naturally aspirated with a little NOS. Haha, he will get a kick out of it when I tell him what it really was. Did you know the guy that had the black Turbo TII that bogged at the light and ran a bogus time. Hell I did the same exact thing with my TII running about 9 psi with a slipping clutch, and a **** load of wheel hop. My rear shocks are useless too. Ran a damn 15.6.
If I see you out there again Ill come say hey to ya. Im gonna be out there in either another RX-7 or a grand national.

Question

"Worlds Fastest w/ least mods"....Congrats on your run, Very nice 60'. But don't get ahead of yourself too quickly, I know many people who have gone faster with the same mods. I went 13.65@101.54 w/ the stock exhaust and cats with an 87 TII.That was with intake, a worthless superchip, intake, 10psi and some extra fuel. With 205's. One thing to keep in mind, Once you get a real clutch the 60's will go up unless you get better tires. And you will start spinning the stock one if you start making more power.

As for my car, Let's just say...down the line after opening the exhaust, 720's, clutch, 225 D40's and changing the IC, 12.6-7's@110-111+mph were the norm.

10 PSI with stock exhaust? and no boost controller... BS

Lets see any ways

13.6 still not better 13.5
other then the exhaust you got more"power" stuff then me
you alterd the cars computer
and injection system..

Ok how much more HP get you get out a mild port
when I say mild port I mean not using the carbide bit but a polishing bit for the intake ports and leaving the stock exhaust ports...

man i wouldnt come on here talking craazy about the least modded/fastest 2nd gen, i bet you there are a bunch of people with less done and a faster time. Even if its by .001. i'm sure there are some crazy people who just turned up the boost and ran a really good pass. I'm not saying you will hear about them or find them, though. for now, until someone tops you in this thread you are the "fastest" thats only cause i never ran a good pass, cause of a boost problem...

dude ive seen dozens and dozens of Turbo II's at the track
over the years
most were runing 15's to low 14's
with the exception of Ryans's brother (crispeeds friend)
who had slicks GSl-SE injectors
RB exhaust, pop off valve and boost turned to 12 psi
and managed a 12.9 at the battle of the imports
here in orlando in 97

please visit the resourse sight here
theres a drag time page with times of turbo II's
even with T4 S-AFC etc some arnt able to do better then 13.5
how come?
or better visit www.dragtimes.com
and search for rx7
and compare Turbo II's there to mine

when some can come here
(which the MOST visited Rx7 site in the World)
and say they did better then 13.5 with "just"<--- very important
(no racing plugs,wires,pullys,elec fan,HD clutch,flywheel
slicks ,turned up boost,FCD,added bigger injectors, computer, custom TID,bov, throttle body mods
racing fuel,upgraded/altered turbo/after market electronics...

"Just" a exhaust I dont care what it was(ran with just the downpipe what ever
and a filter

cause that is ALL I got *other then a very mild/polish job done to the engine's intake ports
(done by me)

Whoa...

Before you guys start throwing your B.S. flags up and flaming Jeff Hurst do you guys even know what this guy has done to his car? I assure you his 12.6 run @ 111 with a stock motor/turbo and street tires is REAL. I have it on video. Still don't believe me? Ask Ari Yallon of Rotary Performance who sponsored Jeff's car @ the Pan American Nationals a few years ago.

It really doesn't matter whether you believe him or not. The point is Jeff was trying to give some advice. When I read kabooski's times I was surprised that he could run that with such little mods. I didn't throw up the B.S. flag right away and call him a liar. Because I know anything is possible once you take it to the track.

Kabooski, you seem very happy with you times. You should be. You are a bit on the defensive side once someone tell you about other fast FC's. Like Boosted & Black said there are lots of fast barely modified FC's out there and most likely faster than yours...

That's very impressive!
My best at the track is a slow 13.7 with a HIGHLY modded TII. Of course that's on a blown engine. I'm only getting 60 PSI on the rear rotor.
Last week I went out and ran a 15 something! I freaked in the staging lane!
I'm going out tomorrow after installing some line locs and hopefully run a 13.3.
Before my engine blew, I should have been in the high 12's. This is all at 3200 feet in altitude.
Having a ported engine is what makes your car so fast.
What kind of apex seals did you put in that?
