I hate this f-ing car

It has been flooded for the past 3 days, i finally have time to attempt to unflood it tonight and what happens? It doesn't unflood. I tried everything. I took out the plugs and cleaned them, changed the oil, pulled the fuse. Only thing I didn't do was poor ATF in because it is 10 pm on a saturday night and nobody is open anymore. Tomorrow I'm going to buy brand new plugs, ATF and hopefully this stupid thing will start. I am so pissed off right now.

Might want to pick up a compression gauge as well, since most flooding is due to poor compression, followed by leaking injectors

I haven't had wonderful luck unflooding engines by pulling the EGI fuse. I've had MUCH better luck by cutting the fuel pump off. There is a relay under the dash that you can sort of get at if you don't have a fuel cut switch.

before you try ATF, have you tried putting motor oil in the plug holes? thats what I did when my car was flooded badly and it got it going.

Did not try that.

Icemark-This is the first time it has flooded, it has been running strong since I owned it, I really doubt it is weak compression.

I can also hear the motor turning and it was so close to firing, it was stupid.

Hmmm your post made it sound like this has been happening a lot lately...

Have you tried just holding the throttle all the way down (without pumping the gas) while cranking??? That does get a flooded Rotary to start unless it is very very flooded.

when you take the fuse out ..roll the engine over 30 seconds ..it gets the fuel out..get a milkshake straw full of oil and put it in the lower plug hole..(each housing).. roll the engine over 3 seconds..put in your cleaned plugs and put your fuse back in..get inthe car..turn the key to on..wait a couple seconds..NOW start the car ..don't touch the gas..should start ...note,the oil may foul your plugs a bit ,so be prepared to put another good set in.after you let the car run a bit..should also say that the car will smoke like a tire on fire..but will settle down..

Like icemark said, sounds like shitty compression.
If possible, pull the plugs for each rotor again and squirt some engine oil in there and crank that bitch over with the FI fuse out. After a couple rotations of that, put the fuse back in and try and start the car.

I'll give that stuff a whirl in the morning. I've been dicking with it for the better half of the evening. Thanks for the input.

BTW- I haven't been trying to unflood it for three days, I just haven't gotten to it until today.

go to www.rotaryresurrection.com and find easier ways to unflood your car... he breaks it down by gen and induction type... pretty cool.

my car has been flooded for a month, yes, a month. it has happened once before... i ran out of gas. put gas in and it would crank up, then die, crank up, die, then crank over and do nothing untill i pulled the plugs out (cleaned them, eventually putting new ones in) and disconnected the fuel pump and cranked it over and let the gas blow out of the plug holes, no luch after doing that several times. finally i rolled the car down a hill and poped the clutch and off i went. now its flooded again... well its been flooded this time for a month. i bought a salvaged turbo drivetrain (complete but, blown motor) only i dont have money to get that rebuilt so i have to get the n/a running... damn thing. i know what your going through i think im just gonna sell all my rx **** soon

I have had alot of luck starting flooded motors using a tow start. Just food for thought.

Pulling the switch under the steering column always work for me. Just pull that large gray box with the yellow plug, unplug it and crank the car. Be ready to plug it back in once the car starts!! Thats what works for me every time

Then you have leaking injectors.

EGI Fuse Helps= Poor Compresion
Disableing Fuel Pump Helps= Leaky injectors.

We all no RX7's are notorious for flooding, and I have had this problem occur many times in the past with my cars. What I usually do is pull the plugs and dry them, then get a friend or a relative to push my car down the road with their car while in 2nd gear. Release the clutch upon movement and let the motor turn. This usually does the trick for me. Be carefull not to have them drive too fast. A good 10-15MPH tops. You dont want the rpms going up to dangerous levels. Oh and make sure you cushion between cars or you WILL be repainting your rear bumper. I used to score rx7's this way. If the main pulley still turned I made my move, people would think the motor was blown, and I would buy the cars cheap and unflood them! (score!!) Good Luck!

same here, just tow it around with it in gear for a while and it'll biuld compression. if you insist on your car having good compression, this'll probably get the gas out pretty quick too.

Yep, and it saves you from using ATF and possibly carbon locking the motor.

Woohoo, I got it this morning. I have never done the ATF thing, I had no idea it smoked like that. I was laughing so hard, it was like a smoke screen all the way across the road outside my house. I was hoping the fire dept. would come.
