I found this site for reman alternators. I have a question

the site
http://autoexpress.safeshopper.com/524/cat524.htm?720
they have different alts for 89-91 TII and n/a. which one is better. I am putting it on an 88 n/a. I might even go with the gen 3 if it will bolt up with no problems. what do you guys think?

I'd be very careful with rebuilt alternators (and starters).&nbsp All the local auto parts shops (Kragen/Shucks/Checkers, Car Quest, Napa) have been CRAP, even with the lifetime warranty.&nbsp I pay the little extra and buy the remanufactured units from the Mazda dealer...

Mail order is even worse.&nbsp If it fails, you gonna pack it up and send it back and wait?

I know but my alt is dead! this is a risk I am willing to take right now. this is by far cheaper. and I don't have to deal with know-it-all parts people.
now is teh TII beter than the N/A?
or wil the Gen 3 bolt up with no problems at all?

3 gen bolts up, requires some VERY simple wiring. Only trick is drilling out the pulley off your old alternator to fit the 3rd gen one. Shaft on the 3g alt is bigger (not to mention a serpentine pulley), so you gotta drill out the 2g pulley to 15mm, get it machined, or get a pulley that fits from the aftermarket.
#g alt is a good upgarde, provides an extra 20 amps for e-fan, stereo, etc.

No one answered my question though...
what is the diff between the TII alts and the n/a for the series 5?
thanks for your help but I have desided to stay with teh series 5 alternator. I need one badly so I am just goin gto bolt on and go.
so what is the deal???
should I spen the extra money and buy the TII? does it have a higher output than the n/a?

Mazda factory manuals show identical current ratings for turbo and NA for each series.
