limited slip differential

 

In technical terms, limited-slips' design intent is to transfer more torque to the wheel with traction, a process called "torque biasing:" the available ring-gear torque that a given differential can transfer to one wheel when the other one has reduced traction. Open diffs have 1:1 torque biasing; a traction diff with a 2:1 torque bias would transfer twice as much of the ring-gear torque to the wheel with traction as the one without.

so, basically it transfers the torque from the wheel that slips to the wheel that grips.

 

All right...no ****, I actually did find some LSD in my rx-7...as well as a little bit of cocaine and 5 or 6 roaches! The previous owner of my turbo II was a blonde haired dark skinned asian guy (imagine that) who was a barber, engauged to be married, went to raves, and was a self proclaimed drug user. I didn' t know that my car had any illegals in it until one day before class at school I was digging through the glovebox trying to figure out what was trash from the PO, and I found of course a bunch of garbage papers, and in the very back of the box were 3 or 4 hits of acid wrapped in tin foil. I gave them to a friend of mine who still was into that stuff (being paralyzed for 5 hours, blind, and only able to sense your own chakras will end your days of doing acid real quick...it did for me anyways), he took them, and tripped nuts. Later that day, I figured I better see if anything else illegal was in my car, so I started digging between the seats and in the various crevices of the car, and underneath the ashtray I found what appeared to be close to a gram of cocaine. I don't do that crap, but I did the cop thing and touched it to my tongue, and sure enough my entire mouth went numb, along with part of my face (must have been good ****). I also found several roaches stuffed between the seats, 1 in the ashtray, and 1 in the mapholders in the door panels. The guy must have dropped them while he was *smoking* on a few occasions.

Do all turbo II's come with LSD's? I didn't know much about the car when I had it, and I thought LSD was just a terrifying drug I had taken several times when I was a teenager.

Not all seconds come with LSD. I would say that instead of giving that **** away, I would have sold it...hell you could've had a turbo by now for sure. I found wierd **** in mine too when I bought it.

 

The coolest things Ihave ever found in a car were a ballpoint pen and a picture of a duck.

i found a case of beer with 1 fresh beer in my truck. behind my seats i found empty vodka bottles. lol..

hmm there were golf clubs in the trunk, a couple t-shirts, some random dirt. no drugs found yet.

no doubt that the guy that owned my car like to booze and drive the rex.. he was pretty slimey.

To tell for certain stop the car w/ 1 side on Pavement and the other on dirt or grass - the do a burn-out If only the wheel on the dirt (low traction) spins its an open Diff (or BROKEN LSD )

Limited Slip Difs are NOT all Torque Sensing - Most only sense SPEED Differential and lock when the speed differential between the drive wheels excedes a certain amount (Usually around 20% for street cars as little as 1-2% on race cars) Less than 10% starts to effect turning ability at slow speed + tight radius turns
Torque sensing diffs actually send more TORQUE to the wheel that has the highest traction (like the Torson unit on fd's) I think the GSL And Second Gen used a clutch pack (speed sensitive) LSD.

 

There is a much more accurate way to tell if you have an LSD besides judging skidmarks . The best way to do it is to jack up the rear of the car, both sides (while the car is not running) and turn one wheel. If the other wheel rotates the opposite direction, you have an open diff (no LSD). If they both turn the same direction, you have an LSD.

are LSD and V-LSD the same thing when mentioned for FCs?
And which FCs have em, i know GTUs, and I believe Turbos do. Any else?

 

I opened up more door to get the glass out and between the panel and the inside of the door was a couple pictures of some japanese couple...One was one of those sticker sheets you get at the mall and the other was a really neat photograph...I guess my car was in Japan at one time, or drivin by an asian in America.
