I don't think this is good..

well I can't search so here goes..

I went to the mountains today and did some hard driving. My 88 TII was running great all day. A little while ago I was sitting in the drive through line at Zaxby's and the car just cut off. It was idling and the next thing I know the idiot lights are on. I shut it all the way off, turned the lights off, etc. I tried to start it again and nothing.. absolutely nothing.. I rolled it back in a parking space and let it sit for a second. I tried starting it several times. Sometimes it would act like it was gonna turn over.. real slowly, other times I didn't even get a click.. then the battery was done..

So... is she dead?

Maybe you blew a vaccum line off will driving hard. Look for a vacuum leak. Hopefully that's all it is. Good luck!

The battery is if you were refering to that. Dont worry it was something simple that let go. possibilities -TPS, BAC, vaccum lines, and that good old AFM. Sounds like alot but its not. It could just possibly be flooded real bad now.

If the battery lost it's charge, and it died while you had the car running. My suggestion is the alternator.

the battery's dead from me trying to crank it too much.. I'm just wondering what can make the car cut off(stall out maybe) while it's just idleing?

thanks for the replies..

there is possibly a short somewhere on the car and the battery may have grounded out. that would shut the car down.

Its more likely something failed since the car was stationary. A fuel pump would do that but you have a walbro so I doubt its that. Think along those lines though. It will probably take some testing...its not one of those things that everyone instantly knows

hmmm...

I had a similar problem that I am just in the process of trying to fix...

With me the problem was the actual ignition switch, I think it is another of those "need to re-solder" things. I took the car out of storage in nice weather and drove it and the car just died and the idiot lights came on like I had just turned the key from off position to on...but then jostled and started running again.

Sounds like a similar problem. (I have to take the whole steering column apart to look for bad wiring).
