Cool I can't open the trunk!!

I got this '88 NA Vert about 2 months ago and have never been able to open the trunk - there's probably a box of $100 bills in there or something ANYWAY - the key turns 1/4 turn COUNTER CLOCKWISE, but not at all CLOCKWISE, but the trunk won't un-latch. The interior release doesn't do anything either. Last meet I was at, we determined the trunk opens by turning the key CLOCKWISE (which, as I said, mine won't do). It is the same key as the ignition right ?
If anyone has any clues I'd appreciate it...

DEAD BODY; haha anyways, try some graphite lubricant in the key hole, and some locks require the original key not a copy.

If graphite and all else fails, and the lock cylender is already toast, cram a flathead in it and turn. Order a new lock based on the numbers on the original key if you have it.

I have a 90 and I dont have this problem. Both ways of opening the trunk work fine. I have both original keys. Maybe you really need the original key.

Thanks for sharing...

I vote you use the screwdriver method on one of the days your car messes up on you. It'll let you vent some rage AND help you out.

Don't know if this is of any help. There are two original keys for the 'vert, a full function key (round head) and a valet key (square head). Turning the full function key counter clockwise disables the the interior trunk release. The valet key will not open the trunk and will only turn about 1/4 counter clockwise.

AHH!!! I have both keys. (wondered what that other one was!) OK, now I know why the interior release doesn't work!
Thanks! I'll try the screwdriver
