It is possible that it is just a coolant leak...
Have you removed the spark plugs and cranked the engine, listening for even pulses?
Can you find any coolant leaks? Try squeezing the upper rad hose while the engine is turned off.

maybe you fried the water seals, so coolant is leaking into the engine. When you crank it it sounds like the engine is underwater..kinda? See if the engine is pumping coolant into the overflow tank too.

OK...First, check for leaks.
2nd, have the cooling system pressure checked. This will reveal bad coolant seals. Those seals cannot be replaced without taking the engine apart.

If your engine is flooded, the way I use to unflood mine works every time. First, open your hood and locate the main fuse box. Open it and remove the top fuse, the one that's labelled "EGI COMP". Get in your car, and crank your engine for about 20 seconds with the gas pedal floored. You car WILL NOT START during thia time. After cranking it, turn off the car, go put the fuse back in, and try to start again like normal. If flooding is the only thing keeping your car from starting, this should clear the problem right up. Don't ask me why or how it works, but it does (for me anyway). If it doesn't start right away, it's *possible* you may have to try a couple more times.
you probbably blew a hose and flooded the engine. when that happened to me, temp was pinned on H, and steam poured out of the hood scoop and around the edges of the hood. i didnt have any problems starting it afterwards though, but any time i wash my engine, it always floods badly.
1st find the leak
2nd unflood the engine.
when it happened to me i FREAKED OUT! but later i was like. nah, no big deal.
