It doesnt tell me in the haynes manual. What goes in this hole? it has two wires going to it.

the temp seems to be ok so its not the temp sensor.....i'm leaning towards it being the temp sensor
and theres no add coolent buzzer so its not the low coolent sensor

yes, you can run without it! Just connect the two wires that went to it together. I forget what it does, but when it is at the correct operating temperature (or whatever the parameter is), then the sensor has continuity across the wires anyway.

If this doesn't make sense, I will try to explain it better.

yes u can absolutely run without it if it truly is the aws(accelerated warm up system) that system is almost completely useless. look it up if u dont know.

also i cant agree that permanently connecting he wires is a good idea as i nor does he seem to know for sure what will happen. it might keep the aws full time might not so try it out first.

I know that if you connect it it will work fine! The sensor NORMALLY has continuity across it anyway. Just connect the two together and it will work perfect!

I have broken that stupid thing on at least two of my FC's and I just connected them. It has been sooo long since I did this, I forgot exactly what it does during starting.

Again... Just connect them. You will not hurt anything and it will work just fine!

my fc is known for running ridiculously cold. (125-150) is this bc this plug is broken?
is 125-150 degrees normal? i think this is bc i just have my e-fan in to run all the time - advance is taking their time with my thermo switch.

Removal of this switch will not cause your car to run cold.

Running the e-fan all the time is a bit of a waste. It should be thermostatically controlled. But that won't cause the car to run cold either. Sounds like your thermostat might be stuck open.

This is a temp swith input for the ECU that is used for the AWS and Secondary Air Injection System. It should be closed when coolant temp. goes above 15-19 degrees celsius (or 59-66.2F).

It will only affect emmissions and idle if the engine and ambient temperature is below that, so you can safely connect the two connectors.

edit: Source is '88 FSM, ch. 4A, page 46, and training manual. Links to these in my sig.

I have a thermo switch on order from advance auto parts.....they are just taking their sweet time getting it.

i've been running the past few days with out them touching and i've found the car to be much more bearable. it doesnt stall when its cold......at all....and it always did every morning so i think i'm gonna keep the terminals seprate.

I checked the thermostat.....its stuck open. i have another at my house.

thanks for all the info.
