I am going to build an intercooler cooler

well this is an idea i had,,i am going to build a way of cooling the inter cooler while i am going down the track or jsut sitting.

the supply list is

1 bottom line setup off of a paintball gun

1 9oz CO2 bottle(also off of paintball gun)

1 nos solenoid

6-10" of braided line from nos kit(fogger line)

and last 1 fogger nossle

i think this thing is going to work great,,C02 is cold as hell so it being sprayed on the intercooler will drasticly reduce intake temps

i will try it out once i have my car running

i figure it will cost around $150 maybe a little less to build this thing

you guys think this is a cool idea?

Technically it should work. Wont it be kind of pricey in the long run? Replacing the CO2 canisters each week? Ive seen other setups were people rig the windshield washer sprayers in front of the front mount (like subaru's system). I hear it works really well and its cheaper than building a CO2 system.

Where is your engine drawing its air from? If its from the engine bay wholly or partially there is a good chance of ingesting C02. That should slow you down... I have heard of people spraying FMICs w/ nitrous only to have it ingested and blow the engine since they weren't supplying the needed extra fuel.

cheaper idea that really works. take your subzero bottle and run the lines to your intercooler. get some spry nossels from plant nursery or hardware store. set it up so that the nossels spray into your intercooler. while you are at the hardware store pick up a 12 volt switch. hard wire the pump in the sub zero bottle to the switch. you fill the bottle with water. ( you could also fill it with 50/50 water and rubbing alcohol) just before you race you add ice to the bottle. when you run you flip the switch and your intercooler is cold.
(the reason you do the 50.50 alcohol is that the alcohol eveparates faster and ther fore cools better)
this really works and you would spend about $15 instead of $150. it also keeps your bay looking better than haveing an air pistol in there.
For $15 I would try this first and if you don't like it, do your idea.

Yes, like Tweaked said. If its good enough for multi million dollar rally cars IC cooling its good enough for yours!
