Hurley seals

i've heard that many rotary enthousiasts using the hurley racing apex seals.they seem to be stronger than stock and using stiffer springs with extra assist spring.that promises better sealing, especially in high boost.but,i'm afraid of wouldn't be gently to the rotor housing.what's your opinion and your expierence also for their corner seals?

For corner seals you might as well just use the OEM corner seals with FD springs. As far as the apex seals go, I've been wondering this myself without much luck!

Stick with stock apex seals. I've been hearing extremely bad things about hurley seals in turbo cars.

1FastT2: what about the atkins 2 peice? I've never heard anything bad about them, and those 3 peice just scare me! And the FC springs are like a round peice of wire, while the FD springs are a thick metal spring that doesn't wear out as easily. You can view the pictures at www.mazdatrix.com I believe.

I've never really heard any bad things about the atkins seals. I use the stock 3 peice seals with stock side seals and FD corner seal springs. Definately go with the FD CSS. Just stay away from the Hurley apex seals, I've see WAY too many of those seals go bad with higher HP cars that were tuned correctly.

Yeah, I've heard a number of horror stories myself. Are there any other apex seal mfg's, other than mazda atkins and hurley?

To tell you the truth, im really not sure. There are some small companies out there making some but not too many well know places. I'd go with the stock seals like im using and be done with it. I wouldn't have put them in my car if I didn't trust them.

I've had quite alot of experiance with Hurley Apex tips.

They are not the best but what options have you got for the price?

I have built some very powerfull engines and used Hurley 2mm in them, They are alot softer than the stock ones.

The pro's are:
There 2 peice so you can run a half bridge,

There Cheap (compared to carbon or Ceramic)
Good sealing (good compresion)

Easy to get hold of

Never seem to do alot of damage when they go

The Con's are:
They tend to Chatter the Housings (only realy noticed on high hp on 40-50k engines)

The corners blow off very easly (even 3mm)

I have stuck to using Hurleys even though i dont realy rate them for the simple reason Hurley are based 60 miles away from me and there 2 peice.

I have used stock tips in a few engines and have never had one fail so i guess it speaks for its self.

i think you mean the standard hurley seals.my question was for hurley racing seals which are told to be harder than stock ones.
anyway, the stock ones seem to be the best solution.
take a look at these ones and give me your opinion.
