this summer i blew a brake line, and of course i had to bleed the brakes, well when loosening the top bleeders the broke, i was like sweet i'm screwed now, but i stumbled across the lower ones and bled with them and worked perfectly, so i really don't think it matters

you are supposed to use the tops to bleed normally and the cottoms if you have taken the caliper appart

i think it's so they can be used on both sides , but you can crack the bottom ones and just gravity bleed them

No, the calipers are not interchangable. Scheistermeister's post is correct. As per the FSM, normal bleeding is done through the top nipple. You only use the bottom one if the caliper has been disassembled.

use the top one because thats where air goes... up... so yo uwould use the top one to get all the air out
