I had just put in Mobile 1 5W30 less than 1000 miles ago and I was worried it was too thin so I put in Royal Purple 10w30.

now the car feels less responsive than before. is the oil that much thicker?

also changed the diff oil to Mobile 1 75W90 today

I had this happen in my Volkswagen It was weired. The oil doesnt seem much thicker but i guess where you have tolernces like In a rotary every bit counts

Why are you running such thin oil? Is it now cold where you live? I run 20W-50 summer, 10W-30 in the colder months in my N/A daily driver.

are you seeing sub zero temps that you were running 5W30???

But regardless of that, did you overfill the engine. It should not be above the H level line on the dipstick when cold or hot.

Something else is amiss, as both oils are exactly the same weight when up to temp.

It's pretty simple. The first number is the cold viscosity, the second is the operating temperature viscosity. When hot, 5W30 and 10W30 both behave like 30 weight oil.

well it has gotten down to the teens lately but I am in Louisiana where today it will be in thel ow 60's.

putting in 5W30 was an accident, didnt mean to get that weight.

I will check the fill level today. should be OK.
