Can you elaborate more on what broke? Did the alternator mount on the waterpump housing break?

Is there some reason the shop that just worked on it can't fix your current problems?

basically , i got my motor and car back, was doing some pretty serious pulls in it, then as i was in fifth , hear / feel something weird, steam comes out, ( i know its coolant related and such, as coolant was spewing everywhere, and its low) , and i have a belt that was just chilling loose in the bay of the engine, and I will try to find out.....i have a 88 with a 91 motor plus fmic so things might be moved around a bit....

and the reason the shop cant do it is cause they are out of state, two states away, i need to find a reliable CT mechanic.....that will work on non stock.

I take it your car has no air pump (extra belt on the water pump pulley), so when the alternator belt snapped the water pump stopped turning? How did coolant get everywhere? Did the belt do some damage when it let go? Did the car overheat?

if thats the case then he DEFINITELY overheated. you probably snapped the belt during one of those "serious pulls", and without the extra one belt from the air pump, there was no water flow through the motor. Not sure if the hoses or any lines would blow off to purge out steam, it would probably all come through the cap and out of the coolant overflow bottle.

ANYWAY... you gotta narrow it down a bit first. Fill it up with water and look for leaks. check your radiator, the stock plastic end tanks are pretty prone to cracks.
