HPS+ vs Stock OEM brake pads
HPS+ vs Stock OEM brake pads
Hey guys, I am having another brake caliper failure. It ruined another set of brake pads. I am going to order some new ones. What do you guys think I should get, stock or HPS+? Whats the difference in brake performance, dust, noise, wear?
The Hawk HPS+ pads are amazing compared to stock. They grip awesome, and I don't ever have any brake-fade problems like I used to get REALLY bad with the stockers. They are more dusty than stock, or maybe I just drive harder with them on. As for squeeky-ness...hard to say cause I put on new calipers, rebuilt the rears, and put brembo x-drilled on at the same time, but I have had more squeek with them on, but that might be due to the brembo x-drilled rotors rather than the pads. I've been driving VERY hard on them since April. I've done more than one hour long backroad driving session, as well as several autocrosses, and lots of driving around town, and my pads still have tons of life in them.
Go with the Hawk pads. There's HPS and HP Plus. According to Race Central in Portland where I ordered my first set, the HP Plus will wear your rotors much faster - if you don't autocross you probably don't need them.
The HPS is a good upgrade over OEM.
P/N for HPS (front pads) is HB155-F.580
Hawk Brake: 800-542-0972

My roomate just put these on his car, and the difference is like night and day. He'll probably read this and post more info... if not, take my advice and upgrade, it's well worth it. BTW, his don't squeek at all...
