How will I do against those cars?
Hey I have a 89 GXL, and wondered what the outcome would be if I raced those cars from a stop.
-Del Sol Si (do they have VTEC?)
-base RSX
-Lexus RX-300
-Lancer
thanks

-Del Sol Si ---------- you win
-Base RSX (non VTEK type-S)----------you win
-Lexus RX300-----------It's a V6 SUV... OF COURSE you win
-Lancer ------------Econobox you win.

I see. I didn't beat any of those cars.
The Del Sol beat me by 2 car lengths.
The RSX I beat him twice by a car length, but he beat me 3 times cause of bad launching. (damn glare!!)
I raced the Lexus RX-300 only up to 40 since my friend didn't want to go over the speed limit, but I stayed even until I shifted, when he was beginning to pull on me.
And I only pulled half a car on the Lancer, from 20 to 60 mph.

Well del sols can actually be pretty fast if modded right. The rsx if stock or close shouldn't be a problem. The rx300 is a v6 so shouldn't be SLOW actually. The lancer is just like a neon or the old mirage(the ones out now at least). I would definitely do a tuneup to race anything. Remember all those cars are pretty damn close to new, yours isn't.

I have beaten LOTS of cars. I'll try to list all the ones I remember:
-Civics
-3.1 Cavalier
-Mid 90's Maxima
-3.8L Camaro
-4.6L Mustang V8
-Protege
-Pathfinder, Explorer, Jimmy/Blazer (dont even know why they TRIED to race, go figure )
-2.4L Mustang
-4.3L Mustang V6
-OLDER buick grand national (it had engine troubles though)
-BMW M3 (had a cracked 5th piston intake valve or 2)
-Outhandled a Z28 Vert on a curvy road
-Caravan
-Sunfire
-Grand Prix
-2.2 Cavalier
-Neon
-Alero
I'd say I'm *ABOUT* as fast as a 87-88 TII in the 1/4 with my current set up
Get your 6-ports working and VDI working and you will see a HUGE improvement.
STOCK you should be running 15.9x-16.1x in the 1/4 mile depending on driver skill.
A del sol SI runs 16.90-17.10
A base RSX runs pretty even with you.
An RX300 is a low 17.
And a Lancer does 16.9.
you SHOULD be able to beat all these cars.
Judging from cars I've beaten, and the cumulative review of mods on this forum. I'm in the mid to low 15's depending on driver skill.
Just remember, in the end DRIVER SKILL will prevail.

Driver skill helps out alot. If your car runs a 15.5 and your racing a car that runs a 16.5,revving too high off the line, missing a gear or shifting too early or late could mean a loss for you.If you dont believe me say "one one thousand" and notice how short of time that is. As far as car I have raced I beat a 98? Eclipse RS by a few car lengths up to 105-110.A civic DX by alot up to 125. And a neon by alot as well. Dre2000 you beat a grand national!?! I know it had engine troubles but those run like a 13.5 1/4! thats faster than a 97' supra turbo.

sorry forgot to tell you that I have gutted Cats, fatty mufflers, K&N cone(no box yet), and pacesteer header(I know they suck). That eclipse had a cold air intake. Oh and that civic has tinted windows, altezza lights, and a honda emblem sticker on back,Im surprised i beat him.
