how to tell if 6-ports are openning

I have an 88 SE and I've only been driving it for like 2 weeks since i bought it about a month ago, my question is how do I know if the 6-ports are openning without tearing into my engine. I am not feeling any sort of power gain between 3k-4k rpms, when they are normally supposed to open. Is there an easy way to tell if they are openning or if they are stuck open? Thanks in advance.

Try this, take some grease and put it on the 6-port actuator shafts. Go drive the car and then look if the grease has been pushed away, if it has then you know that the ports are working good.

Read/search for my reply to the post about this last night, someone else asked and I explained it fairly simply. maybe search for my username in threads.

But the grase is a good idea too.

You dont have to remove anything to get to them. They are on the passenger side right above the exhaust manifold. You will see two angled like canisters with with a shaft conecting to some linkage, those are it. Maybe I can find a pic if you need it.

please post the picture, I think I see one of them. Is the one that is supposed to be at the 9:00 position when closed on the left hand side when standing on the passenger side of the car?
