haynes manual has a good picture showing the 6 or 8 bolts holding it in... after it's been unbolted and moved forward a few inches, gotta reach in and disconnect I think 3 wiring harnesses (label them first) then just slide it out... the center console surround must be removed along with the steering wheel. I removed mine almost 2 years ago so my memory is a little hazy. Haynes also has a step-by-step along with the picture, get it at autozone or most other parts stores

Just look in the FSM. theres links in the stickies on top of the page.
Overall, its not to hard to take out. The hard parts are not breaking any of the super brittle and fragile plastics. The other part is the electronic connections. For some reason, my car didnt have connectors for the side view mirrors, so i had to cut the wires. Also, most of the plugs on the connectors only fit to their corresponding device; but, if i remember correctly, theres a few that can fit other places which is not a good thing. Make sure you label those ones that can fit other palces.

EDIT:
Now that i think about it, the connector for the side view mirrors is right under them. So you would have to take the mirrors off to get to the connector. Or you just cut it and solder/cap/ or tape the wires latter if you dont want to take off the mirrors.
