Iwas curious to know what type of mods need to be done to take a 5.0; I have a 88 gxl, can it even be done? Because personally i think my car is really at the short end of the stick here.

My friend has one with intake and its an auto. I have beat him the last ten times we have raced. I think its a 90 or a 91. And when i raced him i only had no mufflers, no a/c and maybe my intake and pulleys, and my car weighed about 2600lbs i can't really remember it was about a year ago. Just get a good launch try like 3500rpm and u should eat him off the line and stay ahead, i could beat him to 80 by a couple car lengths everytime. but make sure u have an awesome lead becuz once it hits 2nd gear it starts to pull.... i had him by 4 car lengths @ 60
