How to remove engine and keep AC/PS intact?
I'm pulling my NA engine this weekend and need to figure out how to remove the AC/ PS rack without disconnecting the lines.
Rotary Resurrection's site says to pull the engine a few inches forward and then to undo the bolts.
Will I have to remove anything like the AC from the Rack itself to get at the bolts or something?
Any tips or tricks? Anything prone to breaking?

It's a pain, but yes it is possible. Leave the in the engine to bracket bolts and remove the ac/ps to bracket mounting bolts. When you lift the engine out of it's mounting holes and disconnect it from the tranny, you should have enough room to move it around wiggle them off.

Why are you pulling the tranny?
Take it from someone who has pulled a few motors out/put em in, IMHO its easier to leave the tranny in!
Back to the subject, you can unbolt the two accessories and leave them in the car, i just wire tied them up to the shock tower, it keeps them out of the way. The PS is easy to get off, and so are 3 of the 4 bolts on the A/C compressor. The lowest one closest to the firewall is the PITA one. You can loosen the bolt, but its so close to the shock tower you cant pull it out until the motor is moved forward some.
DONT forget to put it back in the same way, or you'll be cursing once you get the motor back in there.

Wow, i've always found it alot easier/quicker taking the tranny out at the same time.... (especially when it comes to reinstalling)

Maybe its because the time I did it I didnt re-install the tranny at the same time (input shaft was gored up). Infact it was Sunday we got the shaft cleaned up and put it back in. I never had a problem doing just the engine though.

I'm pulling the Tranny and engine as a whole.
So you are saying to remove the AC and PS pumps and leave the rack on there?
Then pull the engine out a bit and then pull those out?

about the engine/tranny deal, it's debatable, but since you're going to pull both regardless, I'd say do them one at a time, dropping the tranny from the frame is very easy, and it only weighs about 75 lbs.
